Job description

Position Title: Communications & Volunteerism Internship
Reports To: Communications Coordinator
Location: Laradon fosters a collaborative, team environment; working on-site in Denver, CO and requires traveling to client employment locations.
Schedule: Fall 2026 - flexible day shift hours and days
Starting Salary: Unpaid Internship
Laradon has been a leader in advocacy, education, and support for kids and adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities for over 75 years. Laradon staff work extremely hard and are challenged every day, but they play a key role in supporting the well-being of the individuals that we serve.
Role Overview
Laradon is seeking a creative, community-minded, and energetic intern for Fall 2026 (August/September- November/December). This dual-focus role offers hands-on experience in both Nonprofit Marketing/Communications and Volunteer Management. You won't just be observing; you will be the voice of our mission, helping us tell the stories of the individuals we serve and building the volunteer force that makes our work possible.
Tasks and duties the internship include, but are not limited to:
  • Creating content for the Laradon.org blog on a monthly basis. This includes setting up interviews, taking photos, interviewing, writing and posting the story
  • Supporting the communications manager with creating unique and interesting content for Laradon's social media channels- Facebook, Instagram, TikTok & LinkedIn
  • Supporting the growth of Laradon's volunteer program through recruitment, onboarding, scheduling, and ongoing communication.
  • Assist with day-of volunteer logistics for groups and events to ensure smooth operations and positive experiences.
  • Collaborate with the Communications Coordinator and Director of Marketing and Communications on Laradon's End of Year Appeal

  • Feels comfortable working alongside individuals in the intellectual and developmental disability community

Requirements
  • Must be able to receive school credit for the internship
  • Preferred Majors: Marketing, Journalism, Communications, Public relations, Media Productions
  • A portfolio or links to social media content or writing samples you have created
  • Must be able to commit to two days a week in office (Monday - Thursday)
  • Must fulfill a minimum of 3 continuous months
