Job description

System Analyst Intern – EvGateway

Position Type: Part-Time (Internship – 90-Day Probation)

This position will begin as a part-time internship for the first 90 days. After successful completion of the 90-day probation period, the position will be converted to full-time employment based on performance. Compensation will be adjusted upon conversion.

Work Schedule:
3 days per week, 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM

Compensation:
This is an hourly position. The pay rate during the internship period will be $18.00–$22.00 per hour, based on experience and aligned with local market rates for intern-level roles in this field. The hourly rate will be increased after completion of the probation period upon transition to full-time.

Benefits:
During the internship period, no standard benefits will be offered except for paid sick time in accordance with applicable law.
Upon conversion to full-time, employees will be eligible for 401(k), medical, dental, vision, and basic life insurance benefits.


Position Summary

The System Analyst Intern will support EvGateway's Charge Point Operator (CPO) and Operations teams in the planning, deployment, commissioning, and management of electric vehicle (EV) charging infrastructure projects. The role provides hands-on exposure to EV charging network operations, site development, utility coordination, system analysis, technical documentation, and charger commissioning activities.


Roles & Responsibilities

CPO (Charge Point Operator) Support

  • Assist in the planning, development, and deployment of EV charging infrastructure projects.
  • Support site feasibility analysis and charging station location assessments.
  • Prepare and maintain project documentation, reports, and deployment records.
  • Coordinate with internal teams, site hosts, contractors, and project stakeholders.
  • Monitor project timelines and assist in tracking project deliverables.
  • Support charger onboarding and configuration activities within the EvGateway platform.
  • Assist in maintaining asset inventories, site records, and operational databases.
  • Assist in going onsite for survey

Site Planning & Design Support

  • Develop and update AutoCAD drawings for EV charging station layouts.
  • Create and maintain site plans, electrical layouts, and equipment placement diagrams.
  • Utilize GIS mapping tools, Google Earth, Google Maps, and satellite imagery for site assessments.
  • Prepare site overlays and visual documentation for project planning and permitting purposes.
  • Support site survey analysis and review construction drawings.

Utility & Government Agency Coordination

  • Assist with utility service applications and power requirement documentation.
  • Coordinate with electric utilities regarding service upgrades, transformer requirements, and energization schedules.
  • Communicate with city departments, permitting authorities, and regulatory agencies.
  • Support permit application preparation and submission processes.
  • Track permit approvals, inspections, and project milestones.

Data Analysis & Reporting

  • Analyze operational, deployment, and charger performance data.
  • Prepare dashboards, status reports, and project tracking metrics.
  • Assist in identifying operational trends and opportunities for process improvements.
  • Support system testing, validation, and troubleshooting efforts.
  • Maintain accurate project and operational records.

Charging Station Commissioning & Operations Support

  • Assist with EV charger commissioning and activation processes.
  • Perform charger functionality testing and validation prior to deployment.
  • Verify charger communication with network management systems and backend platforms.
  • Support OCPP connectivity testing and troubleshooting activities.
  • Conduct operational checks on charging stations, payment systems, and user interfaces.
  • Assist in diagnosing and resolving charging station issues in coordination with technical teams.
  • Support remote monitoring and performance verification of deployed charging assets.
  • Document commissioning results, test reports, and issue resolution activities.

Cross-Functional Collaboration

  • Work closely with Engineering, Operations, Network Support, and Project Management teams.
  • Participate in project meetings and provide updates on assigned tasks.
  • Support continuous improvement initiatives for EV charging operations and deployment processes.
  • Assist with customer, partner, and vendor communications as needed.
  • Perform additional EV charging infrastructure and CPO-related duties as assigned.


Preferred Skills

  • Basic knowledge of EV charging infrastructure and electric vehicle technologies.
  • Familiarity with AutoCAD, GIS mapping tools, Google Earth, and Google Maps.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication abilities.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel and PowerPoint.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and work in a fast-paced environment.
  • Understanding of networking concepts, OCPP, and charger communications is a plus.
