Internship Computer Tester information

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as an Internship Computer Tester, and why are they important?

To thrive as an Internship Computer Tester, you need a basic understanding of software testing principles, attention to detail, and familiarity with computer systems, usually supported by coursework in IT or computer science. Experience with bug tracking tools (like JIRA), testing frameworks, and possibly a foundational certification like ISTQB can be beneficial. Strong communication, analytical thinking, and willingness to learn help interns stand out in collaborative and fast-paced environments. These skills ensure accurate identification of software issues and effective teamwork, which are critical for delivering high-quality products.

What are Internship Computer Testers?

Internship Computer Testers are entry-level professionals, often students or recent graduates, who work temporarily with a company to test software and hardware products. Their main responsibilities include executing test cases, identifying bugs or issues, and reporting their findings to the development team. This role helps interns gain hands-on experience in quality assurance, software development life cycles, and technical troubleshooting. It serves as a valuable stepping stone for those interested in pursuing careers in software testing or IT.

What is the difference between Internship Computer Tester vs Computer Tester?

AspectInternship Computer TesterComputer Tester

The main difference is that an Internship Computer Tester is an entry-level position designed for learning and gaining experience, often part of an internship program. A Computer Tester is a full-fledged professional role requiring more experience or certifications, with greater responsibilities in quality assurance and software testing.

What types of projects and technologies might an Internship Computer Tester typically work with?

As an Internship Computer Tester, you can expect to work on a variety of software and hardware testing projects, often involving applications, operating systems, or firmware. Interns usually collaborate closely with developers, QA engineers, and product managers to design and execute test cases, identify bugs, and document results. You may use tools like Selenium or JIRA and gain hands-on experience with both automated and manual testing methods. This exposure provides valuable insight into industry-standard testing processes and can help build foundational skills for a career in software quality assurance.

Job description

Vasion is seeking an Engineering Intern who embodies our core values and is eager to join our dynamic team. We are dedicated to enabling digital transformation for everyone by providing an affordable, integrated SaaS solution that simplifies business operations. Vasion offers a flexible working environment for our 400+ employees around the globe, including at our headquarters in St. George, Utah, and offices in the UK, Germany, and Lehi, Utah.

This role will be located in St. George, Utah.

Role Overview

Join Vasion's Release Engineering team and help us transform how we deliver software. You'll work at the intersection of infrastructure, automation, and emerging AI, contributing to real frameworks and tools that engineering teams across the organization rely on. We're hiring two interns to run parallel, high-impact projects under direct mentorship from senior release engineers.

As a Release Engineering Intern, you will be paired with a Senior Release Engineer as your primary mentor, reporting into the Release Engineering team. You'll have a structured onboarding, clear milestones, and regular feedback throughout the term. The two interns work in parallel and are expected to collaborate. This is a small team with a shared goal.

Responsibilities
  • Build and scale automation frameworks that serve multiple development teams
  • Integrate AI tooling (Claude, Bedrock) and observability tools (Grafana) into real engineering workflows
  • Collaborate across Release Engineering, SDETs, developers, and product teams to deliver tools with immediate practical value
  • Document your work and lead knowledge transfer so teams can own what you build after the internship ends

Project work spans two parallel tracks and includes:

  • Expanding our agentic AI testing framework using Claude via Amazon Bedrock
  • Deploying test automation to development teams across the organization
  • Scaling a working prototype into an enterprise-ready tool
  • Building customer-representative environments for load and performance testing
  • Integrating Grafana to surface real-time performance metrics
  • Leveraging Cypress suites to simulate realistic user load at scale

Requirements

  • Currently pursuing a Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related technical field
  • Proficiency in JavaScript or TypeScript with comfort in Git and collaborative development workflows
  • Familiarity with software testing concepts and a genuine curiosity about AI in the software development lifecycle
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to work effectively across teams in an ambiguous, fast-moving environment

Nice to Have

  • Exposure to test automation frameworks such as Cypress or Playwright
  • Familiarity with CI/CD platforms, load testing tools (k6, JMeter), or observability tooling (Grafana, Datadog)
  • Any experience with Python, Go, or Vue โ€” used across our broader engineering organization

Benefits

Vasion looks for people who will exemplify its four core values and are driven to become:

  • Disruptive Visionaries โ€” We think boldly and author missions that challenge the status quo. We don't follow the path; we help create it.
  • Relationship Builders โ€” We treat people as people. We build strong, lasting relationships through empathy, compassion, and honest communication with teammates, customers, and partners alike.
  • Candor Seekers โ€” We believe candid conversations are how great things get done. We care enough to challenge directly and create space for others to do the same.
  • Action Owners โ€” We take ownership of wins, failures, and outcomes. No matter your role or tenure, you have the power and the responsibility to drive results.
