Job description

Job Description
The Nathan P. Staff Laboratory is seeking a highly motivated Postdoctoral Fellow to investigate the cellular and molecular mechanisms of amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS) using iPSC-derived motor neuron models from patients with genetic forms of ALS. The fellow will design and execute experiments that combine advanced stem-cell culture and differentiation, CRISPR-based perturbations, high-content imaging, electrophysiology, and transcriptomic/proteomic analyses to dissect pathways in axonal transport, RNA/protein homeostasis, and to identify and validate therapeutic targets. Responsibilities include quantitative data analysis, manuscript preparation, presentation of findings at national meetings, and collaborative work with clinicians, bioengineers, and computational scientists.
A Research Fellow at Mayo Clinic is a temporary position intended to provide training and education in research. Individuals will train in the research program of a Mayo Clinic principal investigator. Qualified individuals will demonstrate the potential for research as evidenced by their training and peer-reviewed publications and should become competitive for national research grants. Proof of English proficiency is required for J-1 Short-Term Scholars, Research Scholars, Professors, Specialists, and Student Interns sponsored by Mayo Clinic.
Qualifications
  • Must have a Ph.D., M.D., or equivalent doctoral degree in neuroscience, cell biology, bioengineering, genetics, or related field.
  • Hands-on expertise with human iPSC culture/differentiation strongly preferred.
  • Proficiency in one or more of CRISPR editing, electrophysiology, quantitative imaging, or -omics; and a strong publication record.
  • The ability to work as a team player within and outside of the program.
  • We offer a collaborative, well-resourced environment with access to state-of-the-art core facilities, competitive salary/benefits, and individualized career development.
