The Simple Plex & Simple Western platforms are respectively an automated microfluidics-based ELISA immunoassay solution & an automated capillary-based Western Blot solution within Bio-Techne (NASDAQ: TECH). We are rethinking protein tools and helping thousands of researchers around the world resolve their protein analysis problems so they can reveal new insight into proteins and their role in disease.

Position Summary:

Join our cutting-edge team as a Engineering & Equipment Technician, where you'll play a crucial role in the production of consumable micro-fluidic cartridges & capillary-based Western Blot cartridges in a clean room environment. This position requires a dynamic individual who can provide engineering support to maintain and enhance our semi-automatic manufacturing processes. You'll work closely with both the production and engineering teams to ensure the smooth operation of automated and semi-automated equipment, including pick and place systems, liquid dispensing equipment, fluidics bonding processes, and inspection stations.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Maintain continuous operation of production equipment within a cleanroom setting by troubleshooting issues, performing repairs or parts replacements, and making necessary adjustments.

  • Conduct preventive maintenance on various production equipment and assembly stations to prevent downtime.

  • Assist in the creation or updating of preventative maintenance procedures.

  • Foster open and effective communication with operators and engineering staff regarding equipment functionality and maintenance needs.

  • Collaborate actively with the engineering team to troubleshoot equipment/process issues and integrate solutions.

  • Participate in validation of equipment modifications and testing in the production environment.

  • Train new or existing personnel in set-up, operation and troubleshooting equipment.

  • Be prepared to gather and show records of maintenance events during audits.

  • Assist with maintenance of the building and facility equipment as necessary.

  • Willingness to accept changes in work from day-to-day within reasonable and expected boundaries.

  • The position may require occasional extended hours and occasional weekend coverage.

Required Skills:

  • Proven mechanical skills with a strong emphasis on hands-on experience.

  • Excellent problem-solving abilities combined with strong organizational and communication skills.

  • Experience troubleshooting and repairing modern electrical and mechanical systems.

  • Solid foundation in general math and science principles.

  • Knowledge of GMP and ISO regulations are preferred.

  • Strong attention to detail with good interpersonal and organizational skills.

  • Experience with automation and assembly technologies such as pneumatics, vacuum systems, motors, actuators, and fixtures.

  • Must be capable of working effectively in a team environment with co-workers.

Desired Skills:

  • Familiarity with LabVIEW, Beckhoff and PLC control systems is advantageous.

  • Understanding manufacturing processes, including machining, molding, and material properties.

Education and Experience:

  • Associate degree in Manufacturing, Engineering, or Electro-Mechanical disciplines preferred

  • At least 3 years of experience in a Maintenance Technician role, in addition to a technical high school diploma.

Physical Demands:

  • This role requires working in normal production environments, including Bio-Labs and Clean Rooms.

  • Ability to lift and manage packages weighing up to 35 lbs.
