Job description

Title:

Structural Support & Engineering Administrator Internship

We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Structural & Engineering Administrator to provide hands-on carpentry support and assist engineering teams with technical and administrative tasks. This role works under the direction of senior personnel and is ideal for individuals pursuing a degree in engineering or a related field who want practical, real-world experience.

Key Responsibilities

Structural: Working under the direction of senior personnel, the intern will support structural activities by measuring, cutting, and shaping wood and other construction materials according to specifications and blueprints; preparing job sites by arranging tools, erecting temporary structures, and ensuring materials are ready for use; assisting with repairs, painting, and relocation of walls and furnishings; holding, positioning, and securing structural components using glue, screws, nails, or other fastening methods; cleaning, servicing, and maintaining tools and equipment to ensure safe operation; following all safety procedures, wearing appropriate PPE, and reporting hazards promptly; and maintaining a clean and organized work environment to support efficient operations and prevent accidents.

Administrative: Working under the direction of senior personnel, the intern will provide engineering and administrative support by inputting and managing data in spreadsheets, formatting and manipulating data for reporting and presentations, assisting in the development, updating, and maintenance of facility drawings using Microsoft tools and CAD software, reviewing requirements and researching products and technical documentation to prepare recommendations, collaborating with engineers and technical staff to support planning, scheduling, cost estimating, and system integration or testing efforts, and providing routine administrative and project support, including compiling technical and financial data for reports.

Qualifications

  • Currently pursuing an undergraduate or graduate degree in Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field
  • Basic knowledge of tools, construction practices, or engineering concepts preferred
  • Familiarity with Microsoft Office (Excel, Word); exposure to CAD software is a plus
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to follow instructions
  • Ability to work both hands-on in a field environment and in an office/technical setting
  • Commitment to safety and compliance standards

Basic Compensation:

Jobs on this contract range from $20.43/hr. -$30.67/hr. The pay range is specific to the Greenbelt, MD area, and the offered rate will be based on the position, contract affordability, the selected candidate's working location, knowledge, skills, abilities, experience, and consideration of internal parity.

Additional Compensation:

KBR may offer bonuses, commissions, or other forms of compensation to certain job titles or levels, per internal policy or contractual designation. Additional compensation may be in the form of sign on bonus, relocation benefits, short-term incentives, long-term incentives, or discretionary payments for exceptional performance
