Job description
Institute for Governance and Civics
Responsibilities
- Responsible for the operational management and administrative direction of the IGC's digital presence, media relations, marketing initiatives, and external communications to advance the Institute's core focus.
- Responsible for program design and the development and implementation of program goals, objectives, policies, and procedures.
- Manages, motivates, supervises, and evaluates a team of creative professionals, interns, and consultants to ensure consistent, professional-quality deliverables in alignment with the Institute's core focus.
- Write and edit press releases, press advisories, newsletters, and other communications. Place op-eds in major national publications and book IGC staff on major broadcast networks.
- Promote IGC events and publications across multiple media platforms and secure strategic media coverage.
- Collaborate with a university-wide network of marketing and communications professionals.
Qualifications
Bachelor's degree and six years' experience related to media, communications, and/or marketing services or a high school diploma/equivalent and experience equal to ten years in the same. (Note: post-high school education can substitute for experience at the equivalent rate.)
Preferred Qualifications
- Master's degree preferred.
- Strong writing/editing and verbal communication skills
- Experience organizing and overseeing major media events
- Strong project management skills
- Demonstrated ability to create/maintain strong professional connections with national-level broadcast media
- Demonstrated ability to create/maintain strong professional connections with national-level print media
- Experience with media production processes and ability to oversee media production by staff or contractors
- This is a leadership role. Applicants must be capable of carrying out daily functions without direct supervision and must be able to manage and supervise other staff and student assistants while maintaining their own activities
