Position Summary:
BBU is seeking a motivated Data Scientist to join our growing data science team. In this role, you'll work alongside experienced data scientists to develop analytical solutions, build predictive models, and extract insights from complex datasets. This is an excellent opportunity for early-career professionals to gain hands-on experience with real-world data science applications while contributing to business-critical projects. You'll receive mentorship, professional development, and exposure to cutting-edge technologies in a collaborative environment.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
Data Analysis & Exploration
  • Clean, transform, and analyze large datasets to identify patterns and trends
  • Perform exploratory data analysis (EDA) to understand data quality and characteristics
  • Create data visualizations to communicate findings to stakeholders
  • Document data sources, methodologies, and analytical approaches.

Model Development & Implementation
  • Build and test predictive models using supervised and unsupervised learning techniques
  • Assist in feature engineering and selection for machine learning models
  • Perform model evaluation using appropriate metrics and validation techniques
  • Support deployment of models to production environments

Data Pipeline & Automation
  • Develop and maintain data pipelines for model training and scoring
  • Write clean, efficient, and well-documented code in Python and SQL
  • Automate repetitive data processing tasks
  • Follow software development best practices including version control (Git)

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
Education
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Statistics, Mathematics, Data Science, Economics, Engineering, or related quantitative field
  • Master's degree preferred but not required

Experience
  • 4 years of data science or analytics experience (internships, projects, or academic research count)
  • Demonstrated experience through personal projects, Kaggle competitions, or open-source contributions
  • Exposure to real-world datasets and problem-solving

Technical Skills
Programming:
  • Python: pandas, NumPy, scikit-learn, matplotlib/seaborn
  • SQL: Writing queries, joins, aggregations, and basic optimization

Machine Learning:
  • Supervised learning: Linear/logistic regression, decision trees, random forests
  • Unsupervised learning: K-means clustering, PCA
  • Understanding of model evaluation metrics (accuracy, precision, recall, F1, RMSE)
  • Familiarity with train/test splits and cross-validation

Statistics & Mathematics:
