The compensation offered to the candidate selected for the position will depend on several factors, including the candidate's educational background, skills and professional experience.

Job Overview:

The Paramedic Student Intern renders advanced life support to sick, disabled, or injured individuals based on signs, symptoms, or complaints, prior to the individual’s hospitalization or while transporting the individual between health care facilities under the direct supervision of program faculty and/or approved preceptors.  Standard of care is limited to the use of the knowledge, skills, and techniques within the New Jersey Paramedic Student scope of practice in accordance with all applicable laws, regulations, and RWJBH MH policies.

Qualifications:

Required:

  • Current RWJBH NJ Paramedic Program Student
  • All Paramedic program corequisites completed
  • Current NJ EMT certification
  • Current American Heart Association Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) Certification
  • Current American Heart Association Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) Certification
  • Current American Heart BLS- Healthcare Provider (CPR) Certification
  • NAEMT Pre-Hospital Trauma Life Support (PHTLS) Certification
  • ICS 100, 200, 700, 800
  • Hazmat Materials Awareness Certification
  • Weapons of Mass Destruction or CBRNE Awareness Certification

Certifications and Licenses Required:

Scheduling Requirements:

  • Full-Time, Days
  • 40 hours per week

Essential Functions:

  • Consistently demonstrate and support Mobile Health’s mission, vision, core values and department service standards.
  • Maintain a safe and healthy work environment by adhering to organizational and departmental safety guidelines and procedures.
  • Provides treatment under the guidance of a preceptor, in accordance with established patient care protocols. This includes the department’s established Standing Orders, Radio Failure Protocols, Triage to BLS Guidelines, and Termination of Resuscitative Efforts.
  • Operate department vehicles in accordance with all applicable NJ Motor Vehicle Laws and MH driving related policies.
  • Complete department specific continuing education programs in addition to those required by the State of New Jersey Department of Health, Office of Emergency Medical Services, and the RWJBH Health System.
  • Perform routine duties intended to keep them safe and facilitate their ability to provide patient care. This includes but is not limited to: Completing vehicle inspection forms and vehicle maintenance requests, submitting copies of required certifications prior to their due date, remaining compliant with hospital Employee Health requirements such as TB testing and N95 fit testing, and completing hospital-required processes such as annual employee self-evaluations and employee engagement surveys in a timely manner.
  • Interact professionally with partners, patients, management, colleagues from other EMS agencies, public safety personnel, and other healthcare providers and members of the public.
  • Complete and upload all required documentation at the end of the scheduled shift.
  • Complete and lock all electronic charting entries within 24 hours of completion of shift.
  • Attend all 250 meetings in accordance with the RWJBH Paramedic Program.
  • Maintain status as a student in good standing in accordance with the RWJBH Paramedic Program.
  • Comply with all policy and procedures of the RWJBH Mobile Health Paramedic program.
  • Attend biweekly check in on Internship program status.
