About Corewell West Cardiovascular Medicine

Cardiovascular Medicine is the largest outpatient care center for all cardiovascular disorders. We have 50+ physicians and 50+ advanced practice providers that see patients mainly in the 13-county service area. Our providers cover both outpatient and inpatient care inclusive of a variety of invasive and non-invasive procedures, cardiovascular testing and monitoring and multi-disciplinary care. Cardiovascular Medicine is a division of the Fredrick Meijer Heart and Vascular Institute, which spurs clinical innovation, cutting edge research, patient and physician education, and operational excellence in cardiovascular care.

Scope of Work
Performs cardiopulmonary stress testing and physiological evaluation. May also analyze external cardiacs and assist in the implantable device management. Provides patient education related to heart healthy lifestyle choices.
  • Plans, develops and conducts graded exercise testing.
  • Monitors patient's activity, physiological response, and adherence to the exercise sessions.
  • Provides specific exercise prescription to individuals based on age, culture and orthopedic considerations. May also analyze external monitor findings utilizing appropriate technology and processes report according to protocol; and assist in management of patients with implantable devices, including but not limited to triage, entering and tracking data, reviewing remotes, performing in-clinic interrogations, and scheduling patients as needed.
  • Provides patient education talking points and/or individual and group counseling and teaching regarding principles of a healthy lifestyle. May create and update educational materials.
  • Assists with new employee orientation within department.
  • Communicates and collaborates with other members of the health care team in order to ensure continuity of care and coordination of services.
  • Participates in research projects and on committees/task forces as member, consultant and/or chair.
  • May flex to the medical program or surgical program as needed.
Qualifications
  • Required Bachelor's Degree Exercise Physiology, Exercise Science, Health Science or related field
  • Preferred Master's Degree Exercise Physiology, Exercise Science, Health Science or related field
  • Skills, knowledge, abilities typically gained through less than 2 years of relevant experience in the following areas: conducting graded exercise testing, knowledge of cardiovascular physiology, risk factor identification/modification; basic electrocardiogram (EKG) knowledge or completion of an internship in Cardiac Rehab. Required
  • CRT-Basic Life Support (BLS) - AHA American Heart Association Preventive Cardiology and Rehab, Cardiovascular Imaging, Congenital Heart Center, and Implantable Cardiac Device Clinic 90 Days required Or
  • CRT-Basic Life Support (BLS) - ARC American Red Cross Preventive Cardiology and Rehab, Cardiovascular Imaging, Congenital Heart Center and Implantable Cardiac Device Clinic 90 Days required
  • CRT-Adv Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) - AHA American Heart Association WITHIN 90 DAYS Preventive Cardiology and Rehab, Cardiovascular Imaging and Implantable Cardiac Device Clinic; WITHIN 1 Year Congenital Heart Center 180 Days required
  • CRT-Pediatric Adv Life Support (PALS) - AHA American Heart Association Congenital Heart Center
  • CRT-Clinical Exercise Physiologist, Certified (CEP) - ACSM American College of Sports Medicine Preventive Cardiology and Rehab, Cardiovascular Imaging, Implantable Cardiac Device Clinic and Congenital Heart Center preferred
  • Ideal candidate will be a new graduate from Exercise Science Degree or similar degree, willing to work on Acquiring EKGs and Applying/Processing Cardiac Monitors
  • This position will work at 2900 Bradford, West Pavilion and Meijer Heart Center
  • The core rotation is Thursday and Friday:
  • 1st week of the pay period: 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. both Thursday and Friday at Meijer Heart Center
  • 2nd week of the pay period: 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. both Thursday and Friday at the Bradford office
  • Ideal candidate will have completed a Clinical Internship which will provide growth in the future
