You will work with operational, workforce, and financial data to identify trends, develop insights, and support planning activities. This role is ideal for students who enjoy working with data, solving problems, building reports and dashboards, and collaborating with stakeholders to turn information into meaningful business insights.

Working closely with Operations, Engineering, Finance, and Corporate teams, you'll gain hands-on experience supporting strategic planning and continuous improvement initiatives across the business.

What You'll Do

Reporting & Analytics

  • Support the maintenance, validation, and enhancement of Power BI dashboards and reports.

  • Create visualizations, summaries, and presentations that communicate key business insights to leadership teams.

  • Assist in identifying and investigating reporting discrepancies and data quality issues.

  • Maintain reporting documentation, business definitions, and data dictionaries.

  • Help prepare recurring operational and management reporting packages.

  • Document business processes and workflows using Microsoft Visio to support process mapping, standardization, and continuous improvement initiatives.

Budgeting & Forecasting

  • Support annual budgeting and long-range planning processes.

  • Assist in gathering, compiling, and organizing inputs from stakeholders across the organization.

  • Maintain planning templates, documentation, and supporting analysis.

  • Perform variance analysis to identify trends, risks, and opportunities.

  • Support projects that connect operational performance drivers to financial outcomes.

Workforce Planning & Business Insights

  • Maintain workforce and headcount tracking files.

  • Reconcile employee and contractor data across multiple systems.

  • Analyze vacancy trends, workforce metrics, and organizational data.

  • Support ad hoc analysis and reporting requests from business leaders.

  • Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives that enhance reporting, planning, and analytics processes.

What You'll Bring

  • Currently enrolled in a post-secondary degree program in Data Science, Business Analytics, Data Analytics, Statistics, Mathematics, Management Information Systems (MIS), Computer Science, Economics, or a related analytical discipline.

  • Experience using Microsoft Excel, including Pivot Tables, XLOOKUP/VLOOKUP, SUMIFS, and data validation.

  • Experience with Power BI, dashboard development, data visualization, reporting tools, or similar analytics platforms.

  • Strong analytical and critical-thinking skills with the ability to identify trends, patterns, and business insights.

  • Comfortable working with data from multiple sources and validating information for accuracy.

  • Curiosity and a desire to understand the "why" behind the data.

  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.

  • Excellent interpersonal, collaboration, and relationship-building skills.

  • Ability to work effectively with stakeholders across different teams and levels of the organization.

  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.

What You'll Gain

  • Hands-on experience supporting budgeting, forecasting, workforce planning, and business analytics initiatives.

  • Exposure to strategic planning and decision-making processes within a large energy infrastructure company.

  • Experience working with Power BI, Excel, reporting tools, and business datasets.

  • Opportunities to collaborate with professionals across Operations, Engineering, Finance, and Corporate functions.

  • Mentorship from experienced professionals and opportunities to build your professional network.

  • Meaningful project work that directly supports business performance and operational decision-making.
