We're seeking a passionate educator and scholar to join our College of Business & Technology as an Assistant or Associate Professor of Actuarial Science or Computer Science.
This is an exciting opportunity to inspire the next generation of technology and analytics professionals while contributing to innovative academic programs in Actuarial Science, Computer Science, and Artificial Intelligence. Depending on your background and expertise, you may be appointed within either discipline. What You'll Do
As a faculty member at Maryville University, you'll play a key role in creating meaningful learning experiences while helping shape the future of our academic programs.
Teaching & Student Success
  • Teach undergraduate and graduate courses in your area of expertise through a combination of face-to-face and online instruction.
  • Create engaging, student-centered learning environments that prepare graduates for successful careers.
  • Advise and mentor students in academic planning, research, internships, professional development, and career preparation.

Scholarship & Innovation
  • Maintain an active scholarly agenda through research, publications, presentations, or other professional contributions.

Program Development
  • Collaborate with faculty to continuously enhance and assess programs in Actuarial Science, Computer Science, and Artificial Intelligence.

  • Develop relationships with industry partners to expand internship, experiential learning, and career opportunities for students.

What You'll Bring
Required Qualifications
  • Ph.D. in Actuarial Science, Computer Science, or a closely related discipline.
  • Demonstrated ability to effectively teach and mentor undergraduate and/or graduate students.
  • Commitment to working on campus and actively participating in face-to-face teaching, mentoring, and university service.

Preferred Qualifications
We're especially interested in candidates who bring one or more of the following:
  • Professional actuarial credentials (ASA, FSA, ACAS, or FCAS).
  • Experience supporting or contributing to Society of Actuaries Center of Actuarial Excellence (CAE) initiatives.
  • Knowledge of contemporary software engineering principles and modern software development practices.
  • Experience with artificial intelligence technologies, including generative AI tools used to support software development and programming.
  • Evidence of scholarly productivity, applied research, industry engagement, or professional practice.
