What You'll Do(Generalized – please see full job description for complete responsibilities.)
No two days look exactly the same. You'll split your time between engineering analysis, field work, project collaboration, and supporting the reliable operation of Cherryland's electric distribution system while developing new skills along the way.
- Perform engineering studies that improve the safety, reliability, and performance of the electric distribution system.
- Support the planning, design, construction, operation, and continuous improvement of Cooperative infrastructure.
- Analyze system performance, troubleshoot technical issues, and recommend practical engineering solutions.
- Support SCADA, distribution automation, communications, and other operational technologies that enhance system reliability.
- Participate in field investigations, equipment testing, commissioning activities, and construction projects.
- Prepare engineering studies, technical reports, specifications, cost estimates, and project documentation.
- Collaborate with Operations, Information Technology, contractors, consultants, and fellow Cooperative employees to deliver successful projects.
- Support system restoration and emergency response during outages and major storm events.
- Continue developing technical expertise while contributing to the Cooperative's culture of continuous improvement.
- Perform other duties as assigned in support of Cooperative goals and as a valued teammate.
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering from an ABET-accredited program (Electrical Engineering or Electrical Power Systems preferred).
- Recent engineering graduates are encouraged to apply.
- Ability to obtain Engineer-in-Training (EIT) certification within one year of hire.
- Commitment to pursuing Professional Engineer (PE) licensure as part of your long-term career development.
- Engineering internship, co-op, utility, or related engineering experience is preferred, but not required.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to investigate technical issues and develop practical solutions.
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills with the ability to explain technical concepts to a variety of audiences.
- Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple priorities in both office and field environments.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office; experience with CAD, GIS, SCADA, or related engineering software is a plus.
- Valid driver's license with an acceptable driving record.
- Must live within a 45-minute drive of our headquarters in Grawn, Michigan.
- Must be willing to submit to a nationwide criminal background check.
