Job description

The Hachette Central Marketing Intern position at Hachette Book Group' offers a unique opportunity for individuals interested in the publishing industry to gain hands-on experience in marketing.
This internship is designed for those who want to learn about the lifecycle of a book and explore various aspects of marketing within the publishing sector, with a specific focus on our Raising Readers initiative.

The program runs from June - August and follows a 3-day hybrid work schedule, allowing interns to work from home on Mondays, while attending the Midtown NYC office 3 days a week on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays. A company laptop will be provided for the duration of the internship, and interns are expected to work 21-28 hours per week, with a pay rate of $17 per hour.
This role will provide insight into various industry niches, allowing you to work closely with experienced professionals. Interns will be responsible for day-to-day tasks, assist with special projects, and participate in departmental meetings. This internship has a specific focus on our Raising Readers initiative, which will launch this summer with a number of consumer and bookseller activations. Our intern will assist in all Raising Readers summer activities, including influencer research and outreach, coordination with booksellers and other organizations, outreach to potential partners, social media coordination, and more. To enhance the internship experience, Hachette Book Group offers educational sessions featuring speakers from different departments, as well as networking and career development opportunities.
Qualifications:
An interest in marketing with an emphasis on email marketing, digital advertising, and digital asset creation.
An interest in exploring a diverse range of adult nonfiction and juvenile fiction and nonfiction titles.
Experience producing digital content (ex. filming and editing social media videos, creating social media graphics)-we encourage you to share your work or college portfolio and samples!
Experience with editing and office tools such as Canva, Capcut, Photoshop, and Microsoft Office Suite is a plus.
Experience with email marketing services like Mailchimp, Klayvio, or other email service providers is also a plus.
Highly organized and detail oriented.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Ability to work in a fast-paced environment under deadlines.
Ability to learn new software programs.
The ability to multitask, prioritize, and manage time effectively while also maintaining accuracy.
Ability to work independently and within a collaborative team environment.
An excitement for participating in and contributing to a fun, vibrant work environment with great company culture.
Responsibilities include:
Assist with newsletter campaigns, including copywriting, email building, and newsletter ideation.
Assist with digital content creation for paid social campaigns and other related projects including social media image and video advertising assets including filming and editing short and longform content, video ideation, video scripting, and copywriting.
Assist in building online stores for ecommerce promotions.
Assist in monthly reporting for Digital Marketing.
Attend department meetings and actively contribute ideas.
The role is NYC based and requires a minimum of three set days in the office per week.
