Job description

Systems Engineering (Associate or Experienced)
Company:
The Boeing Company
Boeing Defense, Space and Security (BDS), Space and Launch Division, seeks a Systems Engineering professional to serve as a Systems Engineering Support Analyst on our Product Quality Engineering team in Springfield, VA. Our Product Quality Engineering team works with proprietary customers to bring new systems up to operational capability.
Position Responsibilities:
  • Analyze existing geospatial product quality workflows to identify automation opportunities.
  • Develop scripts and tools for data search, queuing, display, review, recording, and reporting.
  • Build and maintain databases or data repositories for mission data tracking.
  • Create dashboards for quality metrics visualization and trend analysis.
  • Integrate tools with existing GEOINT systems and workstations.
  • Research, analyze, and compile technical data for government products and system-level concepts in the operational environments to optimize effectiveness.
  • Support enterprise tests and mission integration including end to end system readiness, training, and documentation.
  • Support to GEOINT product Verification and Validation.
  • Provide subject matter expertise in sensor processing phenomena and environmental effects for multiple Geographical Information Systems (GIS).

To meet security standards and protocols, all work is performed onsite in Springfield, VA.
Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/Experience):
  • Active TS/SCI U.S. Security Clearance with polygraph, for which the U.S. government requires U.S. Citizenship. (A U.S. Security Clearance that has been active in the past 24 months is considered active.)
  • Minimum years of related experience: 1+ for level 2, 3+ for level 3.
  • Willing and able to travel up to 10% domestically.
  • If not already within commuting distance of Springfield, willingness and ability to relocate at own expense.

Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience):
  • Imagery Analysis Background: Familiarity with electro-optical, remote sensing, SAR, or geospatial data.
  • Programming and Scripting: Proficiency in Python (primary) or other relevant languages (R, SQL, JavaScript, Bash).
  • Data Analysis and Manipulation: Experience with pandas, numpy, or similar data processing libraries.
  • Version Control: Working knowledge for code management and collaboration.
  • Data Visualization: Ability to create dashboards and visual analytics (matplotlib, plotly, Tableau, Power BI, Grafana or similar).
  • Process Automation: Demonstrated experience in automation of repetitive workflows and tasks.
  • Artifact Recognition: Understanding of image artifacts, sensor characteristics, or quality metrics.
  • GEOINT Tools: Experience with ESRI products ENVI, SOCET GXP, RemoteView, or similar platforms.
  • User Experience (UX): Design experience of intuitive interfaces for engineering workflows.
  • Agile Development: Experience with iterative development and user feedback integration.
  • System Integration: experience connecting disparate systems and data sources.
  • Bachelor's degree or higher in engineering, computer science, data science, information systems, or other related field.

Associate (level 2): Education/experience typically acquired through advanced technical education (e.g. Bachelor) and typically 2 or more years' related work experience or an equivalent combination of technical education and experience (e.g. Master, 6 year's related work experience, etc.).
Experienced (level 3): Education/experience typically acquired through advanced technical education (e.g. Bachelor) and typically 5 or more years' related work experience or an equivalent combination of technical education and experience (e.g. PhD, Master+3 years' related work experience, 9 years' related work experience, etc.).
