Are you an engineer-minded professional who enjoys solving complex problems, working with advanced technology, and building strategic supplier relationships? ABEC is looking for a Buyer to help drive the procurement of highly specialized mechanical, electrical, and bioprocess equipment that supports some of the world's most advanced biotechnology and pharmaceutical manufacturing projects.
In this role, you won't simply purchase parts. You'll collaborate with engineers, project managers, and suppliers around the globe to ensure critical components arrive on time, meet exact technical specifications, and support the successful delivery of innovative manufacturing systems.
What You'll Do
As a Buyer at ABEC, you'll play a key role in keeping complex engineering projects moving forward by:
  • Procuring custom-engineered mechanical, electrical, structural, and bioprocess components for large-scale manufacturing projects.
  • Reviewing engineering drawings, Bills of Materials (BOMs), specifications, and technical documentation to ensure supplier accuracy.
  • Evaluating supplier capabilities, manufacturing processes, quality standards, and delivery performance.
  • Negotiating pricing, lead times, warranties, and commercial terms to achieve the best value for ABEC and our customers.
  • Partnering closely with Engineering, Project Management, Manufacturing, Quality, and Sales teams to support project success.
  • Monitoring long-lead materials and proactively communicating status updates to project teams.
  • Resolving supplier and material issues while ensuring compliance with quality and regulatory requirements.
  • Identifying opportunities to improve processes, reduce costs, and strengthen supplier partnerships.
  • Participating in supplier visits, technical audits, and on-site inspections as needed.
What We're Looking For
Education
Bachelor's degree in:
  • Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Supply Chain Management (technical focus or a related technical discipline
Experience
  • 1-5 years of procurement, purchasing, or supply chain experience in a technical manufacturing environment
  • Biotechnology, industrial equipment, engineering, automation, or heavy manufacturing experience is highly valued
  • Internship experience is welcomed and considered relevant experience
Technical Skills
  • Ability to read and interpret mechanical drawings, electrical schematics, P&IDs, and manufacturing specifications
  • Experience working with ERP/MRP systems (Infor Syteline is a plus)
  • Strong Excel and data analysis capabilities
  • Comfortable learning new technologies and adapting in a fast-paced environment
