We are looking for a full-time Product Development Engineer whose job function is to ensure the smooth flow of new products and trials through our Clinton, MO facility. The Product Development Engineer operates under the direction of Product Development Director. This position is based out of Clinton.

What You’ll Do:

  • Ensure development projects are on track to meet expected delivery dates keeping tabs on critical milestones and updating management.
  • Attend trials on the production floor, assist in trouble-shooting and make technical decisions during the run.
  • Prepare post-trial documentation for the innovation and development teams including machine process-ability and analysis of test data.
  • Schedule and run post-trial debrief meetings with appropriate stakeholders.
  • Work closely with R&D, Sales, Manufacturing, Customers, Product Management, Marketing, Supply Chain and leadership to support product innovation and cost reduction initiatives.
  • Be a technical resource for the plant regarding product and process.
  • Assist in new material qualification based on structure definition from Lead Project Manager.
  • Develop trial plans and testing protocols for new business opportunities to meet customer CTQ parameters.
  • Work with Quality Department to design trial runs to identify potential quality issues and resulting in a quality plan aimed at preventing non-conformances.
  • Keep ProAmpac current with new raw materials and processing technologies.
  • Work with the procurement team on qualifying new and alternate materials.
  • Assist with keeping all required information systems for existing structures including site specific run sheets and Bill of Materials documents updated.
  • Work with the site to determine procedures for and assist in product/process validations as necessary.
  • Perform other assignments as required by ProAmpac Management

  • Comply with all ProAmpac Safety, Quality, Operational and Employment policies and practices.
  • All employees have the right to stop work for any task or operation they feel is being done in an unsafe manner, either their work or their coworkers’ work.
  • Day to day compliance with quality, food safety and prerequisite programs.
  • Ensure new raw materials and finished product designs comply with regulatory and food safety requirements.
  • Report food safety concerns.
  • Remove from operation any machine deemed unsafe and immediately notify management.
  • Adhere to all Quality principles as outlined in our Quality System to ensure efficient production of a quality product on a day-to-day basis.
  • Operate in a manner that will reduce waste and optimize usable production.
  • Halt manufacturing processes and immediately notifying management of any safety, material, equipment or technical non-conformance.
  • Participate with co-workers and supervisors in addressing problem areas, planning methods and operating procedures.
  • Identify and record quality related problems, initiate action to prevent nonconformance, and recommend solutions.
  • Control the further processing of materials until any deficiency is corrected.

Qualifications, Education and Experience

  • Bachelor’s Degree required, preferably engineering, quality or other technical area.
  • Not less than three years of experience in Packaging Processing.
  • Solid working knowledge of development processes and related manufacturing.
  • Strong project management skills preferred: good organization, time management, problem-solving, meets deadlines, work independently and as part of a team. 
  • Experience using Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Power Point), Visio, Teams, and Outlook.
  • Maintains strict confidentiality and protects privacy of confidential/sensitive information.
  • Ability to communicate effectively (verbal, written, and presentations) with executive leadership, staff, and internal and external clients. 
  • Proactive; exercises sound judgment and decision making; able to identify problems and needs and develop solutions and/or options.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills.
  • Self-confident, self-motivated polished professional who thrives in a challenging, fast-paced environment.
