Farm Mechanic Intern

Located in the heart of California's Central Valley, Bee Sweet Citrus, Inc. is focused on innovation, sustainability, and customer satisfaction.
Job Overview
Bee Sweet Citrus is seeking a motivated student who is currently pursuing a degree in Agricultural Mechanics (or related degrees) to join our Farm Mechanics Team. This internship provides hands-on experience in maintaining and repairing farm equipment such as vehicles, tractors, and sprayers. Interns are expected to work at least 20 hours per week over a three-month period; however, this internship may be extended based on your 90-day evaluation.
Duties/Responsibilities
Duties and responsibilities are included but are not limited to the following:
  • Assist with maintenance and repairs of farm machinery and vehicles, such as tractors, harvesters, and spray rigs.
  • Help record details of repairs made, and parts used on equipment management software
  • Support mechanics in locating, diagnosing, and repairs on all equipment to reduce risk of future problems
  • Learn basic welding and fabrication techniques
  • Observe and assist in servicing diesel and propane engines.
  • Maintain a clean and safe work environment while following company safety procedures.
  • Operate company vehicles and farm equipment safely under supervision
  • Always work in a safe manner following all established safety rules and regulations including Company's Fleet Safety Program

Required Skills/Abilities
  • Bilingual (English/Spanish) is preferred
  • Must have a clean driving record
  • Must be able to follow our Fleet Safety Program and Policies
  • Knowledge of basic computer skills
  • Understanding of quality standards and health and safety regulations
  • Ability to work effectively and efficiently independently and in a team setting
  • Some knowledge of Microsoft Excel, Word and Outlook
  • Ability to work overtime and weekends as needed
Physical Requirements
  • Must be able to think rationally and apply logic during high-stress situations
  • Must be able to bend, and stoop, including the need to move and lift heavy objects
  • Must be able to work both inside and outside conditions, frequent exposure to heat, cold, adverse weather, greases, oils, noise, chemicals and work in and around moving vehicles
  • Must be able to climb, reach/stretch arms legs or other parts of the body to grasp objects
  • Must be physically able to operate a variety of equipment and machinery including computers, calculators, copiers, diagnostic equipment, hand tools, etc.

Experience
  • Enrolled in an accredited university or college
  • Ag Mechanics major or related degrees.
Pay Offered/Benefits
  • $17.00 per hour
