Job summary
As a Cost Basis Associate in Brokerage operations, you will help ensure the accuracy and integrity of cost basis reporting by analyzing data, executing controlled processes, and supporting improvements to how we monitor, resolve, and prevent exceptions. You will apply relevant regulations and industry standards while partnering with teammates to deliver timely, accurate outcomes. You will contribute to operational excellence through strong judgment, curiosity, and a focus on continuous improvement.
Job responsibilities
  • Analyze and interpret financial and transactional data related to cost basis and tax lots
  • Build and maintain reports and dashboards to monitor data accuracy, timeliness, and exceptions
  • Identify trends and discrepancies, document findings, and recommend remediation steps
  • Execute standardized workflows and procedures for cost basis processing and reconciliations
  • Perform daily controls, manage exceptions, and resolve breaks with clear audit trails
  • Track and report on key performance indicators and service level agreements
  • Apply cost basis regulations, tax rules, and industry standards to support compliance
  • Support accurate adjustments for corporate actions such as stock splits, mergers, and dividends
  • Contribute to automation initiatives by drafting queries, building workflows, and assisting with testing
  • Perform reconciliations between systems, investigate and resolve discrepancies, and implement preventive actions
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to communicate analytical insights and support process changes
Required qualifications, capabilities and skills
  • Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Business, Data Analytics, or a related field or equivalent practical experience
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Excel, including formulas, lookups, and pivot tables
  • Ability to learn data analytics and automation tools such as SQL and Alteryx
  • Strong attention to detail and a demonstrated controls mindset
  • Clear written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to prioritize work and deliver accurate results under deadlines
  • Demonstrated problem-solving ability and intellectual curiosity
  • Drive to learn quickly in a fast-paced environment
Preferred qualifications, capabilities and skills
  • Experience with financial data analysis, corporate actions, or cost basis concepts through coursework, projects, or internships
  • Exposure to tax lot accounting systems or exception management processes
  • Basic scripting skills, such as Python or VBA, to support automation and process improvement
  • Familiarity with data visualization tools used for reporting and monitoring
  • Experience drafting business requirements or test cases to support process automation
  • Developing experience using AI-powered analytics, workflow automation, or intelligent process tools to drive efficiency gains, reduce manual effort, or improve accuracy in operational processes
