The Senior Accountant is the division's revenue-recognition expert on the Month-End Accounting team for our MGA insurance operations, reporting to the Director of Accounting. Early in each close, the role owns the revenue cycle then shifts to flux analytics, reconciliations, and SOX controls through the balance of the month, while partnering across internal teams and external carriers and agents.
Principal Responsibilities
  • Review production reports; ensure revenue cycle accuracy from policy issuance through recognition.
  • Prepare ASC 606 adjustments, accruals, and reserves within the monthly close timeline; review contract modifications for proper treatment.
  • Perform flux/variance analytics with clear commentary for leadership.
  • Reconcile policy-management-system outputs to the GL; investigate and resolve discrepancies.
  • Prepare, maintain, and execute SOX business-process controls over the revenue cycle.
  • Support quarterly close, audits, and external auditor requests.
  • Act as Accounting's primary contact on MGA policy system functionality and financial-system integrations.
  • Partner with various internal teams: D&A, Development, Product, FP&A, Operations, and Billing to resolve discrepancies and improve processes.
  • Drive continuous improvement in the accuracy and timeliness of financial reporting.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
  • Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, or related field; CPA strongly preferred.
  • 4-6 years of accounting experience (insurance/MGA preferred).
  • Strong ASC 606 and revenue recognition knowledge; familiarity with cash-basis reporting.
  • Hands-on experience with policy administration systems and ERP integrations (NetSuite and/or Workday preferred).
  • Strong month-end close experience (flux analytics, reconciliations) and SOX business-process controls.
  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills; collaborates well internally and externally.
  • Comfort adopting new technology and AI-driven tools.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team; discretion and confidentiality.
  • Demonstrates the organization's core values.
