The Senior Underwriting Specialist plays a vital role in bringing our mission to life by transforming complex insurance processes into a seamless, transparent, and highly personalized client experience.
As a trusted partner to both advisors and clients, this individual leads the life insurance and Asset & Income Protection (A&IP) process from initial strategy through policy placement and ongoing service. This role requires a strong balance of technical expertise, relationship management, and proactive communication- ensuring every client interaction reflects clarity, confidence, and care.
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES
Deliver a Confident Client Experience
- Serve as the primary liaison between clients, advisors, and insurance partners, guiding all parties through the underwriting journey with clarity and confidence.
- Translate complex underwriting requirements into straightforward, easy-to-understand next steps for clients.
- Provide proactive, consistent communication to ensure clients always feel informed, supported, and confident in the process.
- Deliver a high-touch, "white-glove" service experience aligned with our commitment to protecting what matters most.
Lead the Underwriting Process
- Manage the full lifecycle of life insurance cases-from initial illustration through policy placement and post-issue servicing.
- Develop customized insurance solutions and carrier strategies aligned to each client's unique needs and long-term goals.
- Initiate and coordinate applications with brokerage general agency (BGA), ensuring efficient case progression.
- Oversee medical requirements, underwriting follow-ups, and requirement fulfillment to drive timely outcomes.
Drive Operational Excellence
- Maintain accurate, complete, and compliant documentation within CRM systems (e.g., Redtail).
- Proactively identify and resolve service needs, including policy changes, beneficiary updates, billing adjustments, and conversions.
- Ensure every detail of the process is handled with precision, organization, and accountability.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES:

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE:
- Minimum of 3 years of experience in life insurance, long term care, individual disability and underwriting.
- Life insurance licensed preferred
- Strong working knowledge of underwriting processes, product structures, and carrier selection strategies.
- Experience supporting advisors with case design, illustrations, and solution recommendations.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and CRM platforms.
