Job description

DevOps Engineer - Onsite - Brookfield, WI

At Old Republic, we believe great technology starts with great people. As a DevOps Engineer, you’ll have the opportunity to work with a talented IT team, tackle meaningful infrastructure challenges, and help make the systems our business relies on more secure, reliable, and efficient.

Old Republic is a leading specialty insurer that operates diverse property & casualty and title insurance companies. Founded in 1923 and a member of the Fortune 500, we are a leader in underwriting and risk management services for business partners across the United States and Canada. Our specialized operating companies are experts in their fields, enabling us to provide tailored solutions that set us apart.

Position Overview

As a DevOps Engineer, you’ll be a key part of the team helping us build and support the technology that keeps our business moving. You’ll work hands-on with Microsoft Azure, cloud and hybrid infrastructure, CI/CD pipelines, Infrastructure as Code, automation, monitoring, and more.

If you’re someone who looks at a repetitive process and thinks, “There has to be a better way to do this,” you’ll fit right in. This DevOps Engineer role gives you the chance to automate what can be automated, troubleshoot what needs fixing, improve what can be improved, and help create an infrastructure environment that is dependable, secure, and ready for what’s next.

You’ll also work closely with teams across IT, share your expertise, and have a voice in how we approach infrastructure and technology.

What You’ll Be Doing

As a DevOps Engineer, you’ll have a mix of hands-on technical work, problem-solving, and collaboration. You’ll:

  • Build and support Azure infrastructure: Design, implement, and maintain secure, scalable, and highly available Azure cloud and hybrid environments.
  • Automate and simplify: Build and improve CI/CD pipelines, Infrastructure as Code, scripts, and other automation that reduce manual work and make deployments more consistent and reliable.
  • Keep things running smoothly: Monitor systems, respond to production incidents, troubleshoot issues, identify root causes, and help strengthen disaster recovery capabilities.
  • Make things better: Identify opportunities to improve system reliability, security, performance, and efficiency, and turn ideas into practical solutions that make a real difference.
  • Collaborate and innovate: Partner with development, infrastructure, security, and other IT teams, share your expertise, contribute to infrastructure standards and documentation, and stay current with Azure, DevOps, automation, and emerging technologies.
Qualifications That Make You a Great Fit

We’re looking for a DevOps Engineer who is knowledgeable, enjoys learning, and likes being the person others can count on when technology gets complicated.

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Five or more years of experience in DevOps, cloud engineering, infrastructure engineering, systems administration, or a related discipline.
  • At least three years of hands-on experience supporting Microsoft Azure environments.
  • Experience designing, implementing, and supporting CI/CD pipelines.
  • Experience developing and supporting Infrastructure as Code solutions.
  • Experience with scripting, automation, container technologies, monitoring platforms, and production incident response processes.
  • Microsoft Azure certifications are preferred.
Skills You’ll Bring to the Team

Being a great DevOps Engineer is about more than knowing the technology. We’re looking for someone who can dig into a problem, communicate clearly, stay organized, and get things done.

  • Ability to work independently and effectively in a fast-paced environment.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Azure services, including Azure DevOps, infrastructure automation, CI/CD pipeline development, API Management, Azure Application Gateway, Microsoft Power Apps, and enterprise systems administration.
  • Proficiency in the use of computer systems.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills, along with strong proofreading, organizational, and attention-to-detail skills.
  • Ability to maintain accurate records, exercise discretion with confidential information, and use various office equipment.
Why You’ll Love Working Here

We work hard, support each other, and believe you should have a life outside of work, too. Here are some of the ways we invest in our people:

Compensation
  • Target hiring range: $110,000 to $130,000
  • We anticipate hiring within this range for candidates who meet the qualifications for the role.
