Job description

Senior Data Engineer + SSISRole overview

The Senior Data Engineer designs, builds, and delivers high-quality data products across Floor & Decor''s modern cloud data architecture, Databricks on Azure, while also supporting the legacy SQL Server enterprise data warehouse (EDW) through a time-boxed migration transition. This is a delivery-focused engineering role: the right candidate writes excellent code, takes full ownership of their solutions from design through production, and is energized by building data pipelines and products that business stakeholders directly depend on.

ResponsibilitiesCloud data product delivery (primary focus)
  • Design, build, and deliver data pipelines and data products on Databricks using Python, Spark, and Spark SQL following medallion architecture patterns.
  • Develop and maintain Delta Lake tables with appropriate SCD Type 1 and Type 2 change tracking patterns.
  • Implement and adhere to Unity Catalog standards for object naming, schema ownership, tagging, and access control.
  • Build and maintain orchestrated workflows using Databricks Jobs or Azure Data Factory.
  • Develop and enforce data quality checks, pipeline monitoring, and operational runbooks for production data products.
  • Collaborate with analytics engineers and data consumers to ensure data products meet reporting and analytical requirements.
  • Contribute to the evolution of reusable pipeline frameworks, utility libraries, and engineering standards.
Legacy SQL Server EDW - transition support
  • Support and maintain existing SQL Server EDW pipelines (SSIS and T-SQL) for ongoing operational reliability during the migration period.
  • Develop enhancements and fixes to legacy EDW objects as required by business priorities.
  • Participate in migration readiness activities such as profiling legacy tables and validating migrated data.
  • Apply sound engineering judgment about when to invest in legacy fixes vs accelerating migration.
