We are a newly formed, wholly owned subsidiary of Volvo Autonomous Solutions NA (part of Volvo Group), created to transform the future of freight through autonomous trucking technology and a new transportation eco-system. Our ecosystem delivers seamless, integrated transport solutions designed to our customers’ needs and enables accelerated adoption of autonomous transportation, including business models such as Transportation-as-a-Service (TaaS).

About the Role

We are seeking an Intern to support our work in autonomous truck fleet, with a focus on repair & maintenance safety claim documentation, data analytics, and AI adoption. This internship is ideal for students interested in cutting-edge transportation technologies, safety process validation, and applying data-driven approaches to real-world engineering challenges.

You’ll work alongside experienced engineers and data scientists to help evaluate and strengthen safety claims for autonomous systems while leveraging modern analytics and AI tools.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist in documenting safety claims for autonomous truck repair & maintenance processes
  • Analyze operational and test data to support safety claim validation and performance insights
  • Build dashboards, reports, and visualizations to communicate findings
  • Support the application of AI/ML tools for trend detection, anomaly identification, and predictive insights
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams (engineering, operations, and product)
  • Contribute to continuous improvement of safety processes, methodologies, and documentation
Who are you
  • Pursuing a bachelor’s or master’s degree in engineering (Mechanical, Electrical, Computer, Industrial, or related field)
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Familiarity with data analysis tools (Python, MATLAB, Excel, or similar)
  • Interest in autonomous systems, safety engineering, or transportation technologies
  • Basic knowledge of AI/ML concepts is a plus
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
Preferred Skills (Nice to Have)
  • Experience with data visualization tools (e.g., Power BI, Tableau)
  • Exposure to safety standards or systems engineering concepts (e.g., FMEA, hazard analysis)
  • Programming experience in Python or similar languages
  • Interest in applying AI to real-world engineering problems
