Engineering Internship

The Engineering Intern will assist the Engineering team with projects that support manufacturing operations, continuous improvement, safety, automation, and process efficiency. This role provides hands-on engineering experience in a manufacturing environment while giving students the opportunity to apply classroom knowledge to real-world projects.

Potential locations for this internship include Northern Indiana (Elkhart, Albion, Fremont).

As an Engineering Intern, you will be working on hands-on projects. Potential projects may include, but are not limited to:

  • Supporting continuous improvement and manufacturing efficiency projects
  • Assisting with automation and capital improvement projects
  • Conducting time studies and evaluating production processes
  • Supporting ergonomic and workplace safety improvement initiatives
  • Assisting with equipment and process troubleshooting
  • Supporting plant layout and material handling projects
  • Helping identify production bottlenecks and opportunities to improve capacity
  • Assisting with project planning, scoping, and cost estimates
  • Creating drawings, documentation, and training materials to support engineering projects
  • Collaborating with Engineering, Operations, and other team members on assigned projects

To be successful in this role, you must possess the following:

  • Strong problem-solving and troubleshooting skills
  • Strong organizational and time-management skills
  • Clear written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills
  • Basic understanding of engineering principles appropriate to your level of study
  • Computer skills, including Microsoft Office
  • Ability to adapt to changing priorities in a fast-paced environment
  • Strong commitment to safety
  • Dependable and professional work habits
  • Positive attitude with a willingness to learn
  • Curiosity and enthusiasm for engineering and manufacturing

In addition, you must be actively enrolled in an accredited college or university pursuing a bachelor's or master's degree in Engineering or a related field. Industrial Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, and Safety Engineering are preferred areas of study.
