Job description

Schedule: Full-Time, 7 hours per day


Position Summary

We are seeking a qualified American Sign Language (ASL) Interpreter to provide communication access for deaf or hard-of-hearing students in a school setting. The interpreter will facilitate effective communication between students, teachers, staff, and peers while maintaining professionalism, confidentiality, and adherence to the Code of Professional Conduct.

Responsibilities

  • Interpret spoken English into ASL and ASL into spoken English during classroom instruction and school activities.

  • Provide communication access for students throughout the school day, including classroom instruction, meetings, and school-related activities.

  • Collaborate with teachers and school staff to support student access to instruction.

  • Maintain confidentiality and follow the professional Code of Ethics for interpreters.

  • Arrive prepared for daily assignments and adapt to a variety of classroom settings.

  • Complete any required documentation in accordance with district policies.

Qualifications

  • Proficiency in American Sign Language (ASL) and English.

  • Experience interpreting in K–12 educational settings preferred.

  • RID Certification and/or state-required interpreter certification or licensure (preferred or required based on state regulations).

  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.

  • Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively with school staff.

Schedule

  • 7 hours per day

  • School-based position

  • Monday through Friday (school calendar)

  • Schedule may vary based on student and district needs.

$24-$35 with Experience
