Internship Ashrae information

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as an ASHRAE Intern, and why are they important?

To succeed as an ASHRAE Intern, you generally need a solid background in mechanical or architectural engineering, with coursework or experience related to HVAC systems and building sciences. Familiarity with industry-standard tools such as AutoCAD, Revit, and energy modeling software, as well as an understanding of ASHRAE standards, is highly valuable. Strong communication, teamwork, and analytical thinking help interns collaborate on projects and present findings effectively. These skills are crucial for contributing to real-world building systems projects and for learning from experienced professionals in the HVAC and building performance sectors.

What types of projects or tasks can I expect to be involved with during an ASHRAE internship?

As an ASHRAE intern, you can expect to work on a variety of projects related to HVAC&R (heating, ventilation, air conditioning, and refrigeration) systems. Typical tasks may include assisting with energy modeling, preparing technical reports, conducting research on sustainable building practices, and supporting senior engineers with design or analysis work. Interns often collaborate with multidisciplinary teams, including mechanical engineers, architects, and project managers, gaining exposure to both technical and client-facing aspects of the industry. This hands-on experience helps you build practical skills and expand your professional network within the building services sector.

What is an Internship at ASHRAE?

An Internship at ASHRAE typically refers to a hands-on learning experience for students or recent graduates interested in heating, ventilation, air conditioning, and refrigeration (HVAC&R) systems. These internships provide opportunities to work alongside industry professionals, participate in real-world projects, and gain exposure to cutting-edge technologies and standards within the field. Interns may assist with research, design, data analysis, or attend ASHRAE events and conferences. The goal is to bridge academic learning with professional experience and help interns develop valuable skills for their future careers.
