Software Engineer II (Application Development) Location- Ft Meade, MD Clearance- TS/SCI FSP Salary- $200k-230k/yr The above salary range represents the range expected for the position; however, final salary offers are based on a number of factors such as the position's responsibilities; the candidate's experience, education, and skills; location; travel required; and current market conditions. This program requires US Citizenship Position Overview The Software Engineer develops, maintains, and enhances complex and diverse software systems-including processing?intensive analytics, novel algorithm development, manipulation of extremely large data sets, real?time systems, and business management information systems-based on documented requirements. The engineer may work independently or as part of a team, reviewing and testing software components for adherence to design requirements and documenting test results. This role applies software development and design methodologies appropriate to the development environment and provides input to system?level software design, including hardware/software trade?offs, software reuse, use of COTS/GOTS solutions, and requirements analysis from system level down to individual components. Responsibilities * Analyze user requirements to derive software design and performance requirements. * Debug existing software and correct defects. * Provide recommendations for improving documentation and software development process standards. * Design and code new software or modify existing software to add new features. * Integrate existing software into new or modified systems or operating environments. * Develop simple data queries for existing or proposed databases or data repositories. * Write or review software and system documentation. * Serve as a team lead as appropriate to the software development process used on the project. * Design or implement complex database or data repository interfaces and queries. * Develop or implement algorithms to meet or exceed system performance and functional standards. * Assist with developing and executing test procedures for software components. * Develop software solutions by analyzing system performance standards, consulting with users or system engineers, analyzing system flow, data usage, and work processes, and investigating problem areas. * Modify existing software to correct errors, adapt to new hardware, or improve performance. * Design, develop, and modify software systems using scientific analysis and mathematical models to predict and measure outcomes and consequences of design decisions. * Design or implement complex algorithms requiring adherence to strict timing, system resource, or interface constraints. * Perform quality control on team products. * Implement recommendations for improving documentation and software development process standards. * Oversee one or more software development teams and ensure work is completed in accordance with the constraints of the software development process. * Collaborate with system engineers and hardware engineers to derive software requirements and gather information on project limitations, capabilities, performance requirements, and interfaces. * Coordinate software system installation and monitor equipment functioning to ensure operational specifications are met. Qualifications Required Education & Experience * Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or a related discipline from an accredited college or university. * Four (4) additional years of Software Engineering experience on projects with similar software processes may substitute for a bachelor's degree. * Fourteen (14) years of experience as a Software Engineer supporting programs and contracts of similar scope, type, and complexity.
