Job Overview

We are seeking an Animal Support Technician II for our Insourcing Solutions Department in East Lake, WA. Your responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Monitor animal health and welfare through daily observations
  • Provide food, water, and environmental enrichment appropriate to species
  • Perform cage changing, cage cleaning, and equipment checks
  • Document animal health concerns and maintain accurate records
  • Support breeding and weaning activities as needed
  • Perform or become proficient in routine procedures: body weight measurements, food and water intake monitoring, ear tagging, tissue collection, dosing administration, health surveillance sample collection
  • May need to assist with: surgical preparation, anesthesia administration and monitoring, post surgical observations
  • Manage cage cards, census data, and data entry activities
  • Maintain room logs, autoclave records, and animal inventory records
  • Monitor consumable inventory and coordinate replenishment
  • Receive, unpack, label, stock, and distribute supplies
  • Inspect equipment and report deficiencies
  • Assist supervisors with scheduling cage-changing and husbandry activities
Job Qualifications
  • High School Diploma or GED required.
  • Bachelor's degree in Biology, Animal Science, Life Sciences, or related field preferred
  • 1–2 years of laboratory animal husbandry experience.
  • Basic technical experience such as dosing and tissue collection in a laboratory animal environment.
  • AALAS ALAT certification preferred
  • 2 years of lab animal experience if not ALAT certified 
  • LAT certification preferred

The hourly range for this position is $25-$27/hour. The schedule is Tuesday through Saturday 7AM-3:30PM - hours may vary depending on the site.
