What is an internship Angular developer?

Internship Angular Developers are students or recent graduates who are learning to build web applications using the Angular framework during their internship. They typically work on real projects under the guidance of experienced developers, gaining practical experience in coding, debugging, and using Angular's features. This role helps interns develop their skills in front-end development, teamwork, and problem-solving, preparing them for full-time positions in software development.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as an internship Angular developer?

To thrive as an Internship Angular Developer, you need a solid understanding of HTML, CSS, JavaScript, and foundational knowledge of Angular concepts, typically supported by a relevant IT or computer science background. Familiarity with tools like Angular CLI, Git for version control, and basic experience with RESTful APIs or TypeScript are commonly required. Strong problem-solving skills, eagerness to learn, and effective communication are valuable soft skills that help interns integrate and contribute to team projects. These abilities are important for building scalable web applications, collaborating with senior developers, and accelerating professional growth in a fast-paced tech environment.

What types of projects and tasks can I expect to work on as an internship Angular developer?

Job description

Overview

Being good neighbors – helping people, investing in our communities, and making the world a better place – is who we are at State Farm. It is at the core of how we operate and the reason for our success. We're moving with urgency to become a Next Gen Good Neighbor, with technology that strengthens human connections and enhances the customer experience. As an employee, you'll spend less time navigating systems and more time applying judgment, empathy, and expertise in the moments that matter most.
HYBRID: Qualified candidates (in or near hub locations listed below) should plan to spend time working from home and some time working in the office as part of our hybrid work environment.
Hybrid work arrangement for Enterprise Technology is defined as residing with a 180-mile radius of the Hubs and Corporate.
HUB LOCATIONS: Richardson, TX or Bloomington, IL
SPONSORSHIP: Applicants are required to be eligible to lawfully work in the U.S. immediately; employer will not sponsor applicants for U.S. work authorization (e.g., H-1B visa) for this opportunity.

Grow Your Skills, Grow Your Potential
Responsibilities

The Agent Office Identification (AOI) team builds the technology that connects State Farm customers with their agents — the Agent Locator, Agent Search, agent microsites, and the APIs that power them. If you've ever searched for a State Farm agent online or visited an agent web page, you've used something our team built.

As an engineer here, you'll own solutions from concept through production — not just write code to a spec. You'll work directly with product, business partners, analytics, UX, and other engineers to figure out what's broken, shape the fix, and ship it. You'll have real input into technical decisions early in your career, not just once you're senior.

Our platform runs on AWS and Red Hat OpenShift Service on AWS (ROSA). Right now, we're modernizing legacy systems into reusable services, strengthening data quality and security, and using AI-assisted tools like GitHub Copilot, Codex to build faster and better. You'll be learning modern cloud-native engineering practices from engineers who are actively modernizing a platform that touches millions of customer interactions — not maintaining something static.

If you want to grow fast, take real ownership early, and see your code affect how customers actually find and connect with an agent, this is that role.

What we're looking for: 2-3 years of professional software development experience, or a Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field plus relevant internship/project experience.
