Backend Developer (Junior–Mid Level) Location: Austin, TX or Remote (U.S.) Company: Datasent Type: Full-time The Role We're hiring a junior‐to‐mid‐career Backend Engineer with a strong foundation in Python or systems‐level programming and a genuine interest in deployment, DevOps workflows, and production systems. You'll work closely with a small, senior team on: Core backend services Data and ML processing pipelines Containerized deployments Client‐facing B2B implementations This is a hands‐on role with meaningful ownership and exposure to real customer problems. What You'll Do Design and implement backend services in Python, Rust, or similar low‐level languages Build and maintain data processing and ML pipelines Develop and deploy containerized applications using Docker Work with SQL (Postgres or equivalent) and/or NoSQL (MongoDB) databases Support B2B client implementations, including requirement assessment and customization Collaborate closely with product, operations, and leadership in a remote‐first, small‐team environment Improve reliability, observability, and deployment workflows as the platform scales Required Qualifications Proficiency in Python or Rust (or another systems‐oriented language) Experience with PostgreSQL or other SQL databases, and/or MongoDB Familiarity with common ML and data science libraries, such as NumPy, Pandas or Polars, Scikit‐Learn, OpenCV (or similar) Experience building and deploying applications using Docker or container technologies Exposure to B2B software development, including working with real client requirements Strong written and verbal communication skills Comfortable working on a small, remote team with direct ownership and responsibility Nice to Have Experience with implementation‐heavy client engagements Ability to turn bespoke client solutions into reusable frameworks or internal tools Background in cryptography‐adjacent or security‐minded systems Experience with AWS, especially ECS / EKS, S3, RDS Exposure to embedded or edge computing, including ARM or RISC‐V Why Datasent Work on hard, meaningful problems in privacy‐preserving data and AI Real ownership and impact—your code will ship and be used Learn from senior engineers and founders with deep systems experience Flexible, remote‐first culture focused on trust and execution Opportunity to grow into senior backend, platform, or systems roles #J-18808-Ljbffr
