The Legal Department provides core legal support to all Dolby functions, runs several IP-centric businesses, and leads government relations.

We are looking for an intern to join our Business Planning & Operations group within the Legal organization. In this role, you will support cross-functional teams including the Patent Licensing business, Global Dispute Resolution group, and IP Protection group. Working within the Business Operations group, you will contribute to process optimization and automation efforts while collecting, processing, and synthesizing large datasets into compelling market insights.  

Key Responsibilities 

Data Analysis & Insights 

  • Collect, clean, and analyze large datasets to identify patterns and trends in the consumer electronics market. 

  • Consolidate data from multiple sources into clear, meaningful summaries that inform strategic business decisions. 

  • Build and maintain dashboards and reports to track key performance indicators and market movements. 

  • Present findings to stakeholders in a concise and actionable format. 

Market Research 

  • Conduct in-depth primary and secondary research on consumer electronics industry trends, competitor activity, and emerging technologies. 

  • Monitor market developments and synthesize information into periodic research briefs and newsletters. 

  • Evaluate competing products, tools, and technologies to support strategic planning and business development. 

Process Optimization & Automation 

  • Support the identification and implementation of process improvements across Business Operations workflows. 

  • Assist in designing and deploying automation solutions to streamline repetitive tasks and increase team efficiency. 

  • Document existing processes and collaborate with stakeholders to develop optimized workflows and standard operating procedures. 

  • Leverage AI tools and automation platforms to enhance productivity across the Global Dispute Resolution, IP Protection, and Patent Licensing teams. 

Data Management & Systems Support 

  • Support the extraction, transformation, and loading (ETL) of data into visualization and reporting platforms. 

  • Assist in maintaining and improving CRM data quality and workflows in Salesforce. 

  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure data integrity and consistency across systems. 

Qualifications 

Required 

  • Strong analytical mindset with attention to detail and a passion for turning raw data into actionable insights. 

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills. 

Preferred Experience & Skills 

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, including pivot tables, VLOOKUP/XLOOKUP, and data modeling. 

  • Experience with data analysis tools or programming languages (e.g., Python, R, SQL). 

  • Familiarity with AI agents, automation tools, or large language model (LLM) applications. 

  • Exposure to CRM platforms, particularly Salesforce. 

  • Experience with data visualization tools (e.g., Tableau, Power BI) is a plus. 

  • Prior coursework or project experience in market research, business analysis, or consumer behavior. 

Eligibility: 

Working towards a Bachelor's degree or Master's degree in Business, Economics, Data Science, Statistics, Computer Science, or a related field; recent grads who are within 6 months of graduation are also eligible to apply. Must be available to work full-time Monday - Friday for 3 months between September 2026- December 2026. 

Start dates for the internship are as follows: (*note* this date is not flexible) 

  • September 21, 2026 

The San Francisco/Bay Area base hourly range for this internship position is $33-38/hr and can vary if outside of this location. Our hourly ranges are determined by role, level, and location. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training.
