Responsibilities

AML Surveillance and Transaction Monitoring is a critical control designed to detect and investigate activity that may be unusual or indicative of market manipulation, insider trading, money laundering, fraud, or other financial crimes. In this role, the individual is responsible for conducting Low-Priced Security and other transaction monitoring alert reviews, handling trade-related escalations and investigations, preparing supporting narratives for SAR filings, conducting enhanced due diligence, and participating in ad hoc projects as required. The role requires the use of internal and external investigative resources, analytical judgment, and effective research techniques to identify, assess, and escalate potential financial crime risks.

Responsibilities include:

  • Review and investigate transaction monitoring alerts, including Low-Priced Securities, money movement, wire transfer, and other AML surveillance alerts
  • Analyze customer activity, account behavior, source of funds, and transactional patterns to identify unusual or potentially suspicious activity
  • Conduct investigations involving securities transactions, deposits, withdrawals, internal transfers, wires, and other money movement activity; determine appropriate disposition, escalation, or reporting requirements
  • Manage daily alert volumes and investigations, escalating matters to AML Management as appropriate
  • Document investigative findings, analysis, and disposition rationale in accordance with regulatory requirements and internal procedures
  • Prepare SAR narratives and supporting documentation
  • Conduct enhanced due diligence (EDD) reviews on higher-risk customers, transactions, and business relationships
  • Review and approve higher-risk wire transfers and money movement activity in accordance with established controls and escalation protocols
  • Investigate complex matters involving related accounts, common ownership, beneficial ownership structures, and interconnected transactional activity
  • Support FinCEN 314(a) requests and information-sharing initiatives under 314(b), as applicable
  • Utilize internal and external investigative tools, public records, and intelligence sources to support investigations
  • Maintain knowledge of AML typologies, broker-dealer risks, regulatory developments, and emerging financial crime trends
  • Partner with Compliance, Operations, Front Office, Legal, and other stakeholders to support investigations, escalations, and remediation efforts
  • Participate in AML-related projects, regulatory initiatives, model tuning, quality assurance reviews, and remediation activities
Qualifications

Job Requirements:

  • Minimum 3-5 years of experience conducting AML transaction monitoring, trade surveillance reviews, investigations, enhanced due diligence, and/or remediation activities within a Broker Dealer is required. Experience in digital assets is a plus
  • Strong knowledge of securities products, including Equities, Fixed Income, Options, ETFs/ETPs, and related trading activity
  • Good understanding of transaction monitoring and surveillance scenarios, alert logic, and disposition methodologies
  • Experience conducting complex investigations, account activity reviews, and suspicious activity assessments
  • Ability to perform enhanced due diligence (EDD) and identify potential financial crime risks
  • Knowledge of AML, KYC, CIP, FinCEN, OFAC, USA PATRIOT Act, FINRA, and SEC regulatory requirements
  • Excellent analytical, investigative, and report-writing skills
  • Strong problem-solving and critical-thinking abilities
  • Working knowledge of broker-dealer operations and trade settlement processes, including asset movements, ACH, ACATS, DRS, DWAC, wires, and other money movement activity
  • Experience reviewing and investigating securities transactions, wire transfers, and other money movement activity for potential AML or market abuse concerns
  • Proficiency with case management and transaction monitoring systems (e.g., NICE Actimize, Oracle Mantas, or similar platforms)
  • Advanced working knowledge of Microsoft Excel; Power BI experience is a plus.
  • Experience using investigative and due diligence tools such as LexisNexis, World-Check, or similar platforms
  • CAMS certification preferred; candidates without CAMS generally required to obtain certification within the first 18 months of employment
  • Ability to work independently while contributing effectively within a collaborative AML team environment
  • Bachelor's degree in Finance, Business, Economics, Law, or a related field is preferred 

Hiring Salary Range $75,000 - $85,000 (Salary to be determined by the education, experience, knowledge, skills and abilities of the applicant, internal equity and alignment with market data.) Subject to business performance and recommendations of management, this role may be eligible to participate in an incentive compensation plan. This compensation package, in addition to a full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits, dependent on the position, is offered.
