Job description

Prairie Ridge Integrated Behavioral Healthcare is open to a Master's Level Clinical Interns who are nearing completion of their graduate program and ready to gain meaningful, hands-on clinical experience. This practicum and internship experience will provide the opportunity to apply classroom learning in a real-world behavioral health setting while working alongside experienced clinicians.


Interns will participate in assessment, counseling, and treatment services while receiving structured supervision, training, and mentorship to support the development of clinical skills and preparation for professional licensure. Prairie Ridge is committed to helping emerging clinicians build confidence and begin their careers making a difference in the communities we serve.


TASKS AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  1. Treat all individuals with dignity and respect while maintaining agency standards of confidentiality, professionalism, and objectivity.
  2. Obtain tCADC credential through the Iowa Board of Certification within 90 days of start of internship as applicable and consistent with internship and licensure requirements (fees related to this credentialing process are covered by the agency).
  3. Provide intervention, evaluation/assessment, individual, group and family counseling to individuals affected by behavioral health conditions to include all outpatient treatment programs.
  4. Develop and maintain a community referral network.
  5. Assume 24 hour on-call duty once every staff rotation as needed.
  6. Maintain all regulatory, contract and documentation standards and data collection, and complete necessary documentation in a timely manner.
  7. Consistent collaboration and coordination of care between all Prairie Ridge services, including, but not limited to IHH and other services.
  8. Develop and maintain a working knowledge of all documentation and reporting systems to include all state and national reporting systems, Accreditation Now, MyOutcomes, and Electronic Health Record (EMR Bear), and any others as assigned.
  9. Attend monthly staff consultation, weekly site supervision as required by internship program, weekly or biweekly training and supervision with direct Clinical Supervisor (if different from Site Supervisor), and training activities as scheduled by the agency. Participate in structured learning, training, and supervision activities designed to support completion of academic field experience requirements and development of clinical competencies at the master's level.
  10. Proficiency in clinical practices identified as best practice by the agency demonstrated through supervision and direct observation.
  11. Demonstrate understanding and adherence to all CARF policies and procedures.
  12. Perform other duties as assigned by supervisor.

QUALIFICATIONS

  1. For clinicians treating individuals with a primary mental health diagnosis, a minimum of a BA degree behavioral healthcare or related field is required, as well as admission in a program working towards a master's or other accredited licensure program as an LMFT, LMHC, LMSW, or LISW.
  2. Understanding of the mission of Prairie Ridge and the patients we work with.
  3. Proficiency in oral and written communication skills, as well as record keeping.
  4. Technology skills allowing for proficiency in use of electronic health record.
  5. Physical demands: The employee may frequently lift and moves up to 10 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision and the ability to adjust focus.




Please note: Prairie Ridge values the opportunity to support students entering the behavioral health field; however, intern placements depend on supervisor availability and agency capacity, so we may not always have space to host an intern each semester.
