What's This Job All About?
The Pharmacist in Charge is responsible for guiding practices to adhere to state and federal regulations. This individual will claim accountability for the performance and advancement of quality and compliance initiatives, and will work to develop progressive strategies to continuously improve safety and service beyond traditional expectations.
The Pharmacist in Charge will ensure all fellow team members are properly credentialed and trained to fulfill a commitment to excellence. The Pharmacist in Charge is involved with and accountable for day-to-day operations of their pharmacy, and is primarily physically located at that pharmacy.
Key job responsibilities
Stay informed of local, state, and federal laws related to pharmacy practices, including changes or developments and their impact on Amazon Pharmacy and its customers
Coordinate with the corporate legal team to maintain licensure of the pharmacy and its staff with various state pharmacy boards
Continuously monitor licensure requirements
Align policies and initiatives with requirements and demands of accrediting/licensing bodies, including but not limited to: Board of Pharmacy (BOP), National Association of Boards of Pharmacy (NABP), URAC, Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA), Food and Drug Administration (FDA), United States Pharmacopeia (USP)
Serve as a liaison between Amazon Pharmacy and the Board of Pharmacy and attend the State's Pharmacy Board Meetings
Monitor and audit transactions within the pharmacy to maintain control of pharmaceutical materials and guarantee adherence thereof with applicable state and federal laws
Educate pharmacy staff on policies, reporting guidelines, and expectations as they relate to best quality practices
Provide insight into new and ongoing projects and efforts
Drive quality efforts throughout the fulfillment center facility and partner with operations management to review processes regularly to ensure regulatory compliance and embrace continuous quality improvements
Maintain and report all records for the dispensing of controlled substances to each state when required
Review escalated issues for resolution. Interface with clients and team members as needed to resolve
Ensure the pharmacy and its practices adhere to all regulatory requirements
Provide clinical oversight for the pharmacy and serve as an escalation pathway for clinical escalations
BASIC QUALIFICATIONS
- Doctorate or Bachelor's Degree in Pharmacy
- Active and unrestricted Pharmacist License in domicile state
- Active and unrestricted Pharmacist License in all states requiring Non-resident PIC license, or willingness to obtain within first 6 months in role
- 1 year Staff Pharmacist experience within Amazon Pharmacy or three or more years Pharmacist in Charge experience
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Five or more years Pharmacist in Charge experience
- Three or more years Pharmacist Preceptor experience
- Extensive knowledge of state and federal laws, rules, and regulations surrounding pharmacy practices and patient safety
- Extensive experience developing and managing pharmacy fulfillment center workflows
- Knowledge of facility inspection and licensing process in domicile state
- Knowledge of facility inspection and licensing process in Non-Resident states
- Experience recruiting, interviewing, and hiring Pharmacists, Pharmacy Technicians, and Pharmacy Interns
- Experience communicating with and presenting to Boards of Pharmacy and other regulatory bodies
- Willingness to work varying schedules
- Experience managing high-volume, highly-automated pharmacies
- Experience managing 30+ employees (including Pharmacists, Pharmacy Technicians, and Pharmacy Interns)

The base salary range for this position is listed below. Your Amazon package will include sign-on payments and restricted stock units (RSUs). Final compensation will be determined based on factors including experience, qualifications, and location.
