Job description

Are you looking to help define a new architectural pattern to solve for the complexity of high-volume, high-scale, high-velocity microservices architecture with Generative AI? Then this role is for you. The Traffic Engineering team is looking for a talented and passionate Software Development Engineer to play a critical role in building Amazon's next-gen data lakes and cloud networking fabric that will help drive innovation at Amazon. You will have the opportunity to re-define and automate how Amazon services connect with each other. Key job responsibilities
The ideal candidate is a champion of engineering excellence and improves quality, consistency, maintainability, performance, and security with every code commit. In addition, he/she contributes elegant, practical code with Generative AI that solves the most difficult problems at Amazon scale.

About the team
Our team is embarking on a journey to develop the next generation of networking software for customers. Your work will be highly visible and is instrumental in helping Amazon serve record breaking amounts everyday including flagship events such as Prime Day. If you love building high performance software with Generative AI that's focused on best-in-class networking, data processing, security, and leverages AWS technologies, we have the job for you.
Key job responsibilities
* 5+ years of experience contributing to the system design or architecture (architecture, design patterns, reliability and scaling) of new and current systems.
* 4+ years of non-internship professional software development experience
* Programming experience with at least one software programming language.
Knowledge of professional software engineering and best practices for the full software development life cycle, including coding standards, code reviews, source control management, build processes, testing, and operations.
Experience building large-scale software systems that have been successfully delivered to customers.
Hands-on expertise in many disparate technologies, typically ranging from front-end user interfaces through to back-end software systems and all points in between.
BASIC QUALIFICATIONS
- 3+ years of non-internship professional software development experience
- 2+ years of non-internship design or architecture (design patterns, reliability and scaling) of new and existing systems experience
- Experience programming with at least one software programming language
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
- 3+ years of full software development life cycle, including coding standards, code reviews, source control management, build processes, testing, and operations experience
- Bachelor's degree in computer science or equivalent

The base salary range for this position is listed below. Your Amazon package will include sign-on payments and restricted stock units (RSUs). Final compensation will be determined based on factors including experience, qualifications, and location. Amazon also offers comprehensive benefits including health insurance (medical, dental, vision, prescription, Basic Life & AD&D insurance and option for Supplemental life plans, EAP, Mental Health Support, Medical Advice Line, Flexible Spending Accounts, Adoption and Surrogacy Reimbursement coverage), 401(k) matching, paid time off, and parental leave.
