Job description

re:Invent is the largest gathering of the AWS community, with 60K+ customers and partners. In 2026, we're building AI-native experiences that make re:Invent feel built for each attendee.
As a forward-deployed engineer on the Events Technology Team, you will act as both builder and technical partner for the stakeholder teams. You operate at the intersection of engineering and customer experience, with high autonomy, direct stakeholder access, and work that drives measurable outcomes. You'll be part of a small, focused team delivering AI solutions for the attendee experience. Each engineer owns an experience and ships directly.
Build AI-powered experiences across re:Invent surfaces: the mobile app, Amazon Quick, and on-site kiosks that surface personalized session recommendations and wayfinding for 60K+ attendees. You will bring expertise in AI/LLM and agentic workflows to identify where AI removes manual steps, build production-grade solutions, and iterate based on real usage. Prototype fast, ship to production, and measure impact.
This role is for self-starters. You're here to build. You see the problem, own it end-to-end, and deliver the solution. You thrive without detailed specs. Ambiguity energizes you. If you want to see your work used by tens of thousands of people within days of shipping, this is the role designed for you.
Key job responsibilities
* Embed with event operations and marketing teams to understand workflows, identify AI/automation opportunities, and build solutions
* Design and implement GenAI-powered customer experiences
* Own full lifecycle: deploy, monitor, and maintain applications
* Convert ambiguous business problems into scoped, shippable deliverables with clear success metrics
* Build integrations between AI tooling, 1P, and 3P services
* Work directly with non-technical stakeholders to translate needs into solutions
* Document solutions, build runbooks, transfer ownership so teams operate without you
* Own design reviews and POC evaluations, and contribute to architecture decisions
About the team
Events Technology & Marketer Experience builds the systems that power AWS events, from re:Invent (60K+ attendees) to regional summits worldwide. Our mission is to make events uneventful. We do that by delivering seamless attendee experiences and reliable tools for the teams who produce them. In 2026, we're going further, using agentic AI to make every re:Invent surface smarter. We're a small, high-ownership team where engineers work close to the customer, ship directly, and see their work land at scale. If you want to build AI experiences used by tens of thousands of people, this is the team.
BASIC QUALIFICATIONS
- 3+ years of non-internship professional software development experience
- 2+ years of non-internship design or architecture (design patterns, reliability and scaling) of new and existing systems experience
- Experience programming with at least one software programming language
- Experience building applications that leverage LLM APIs (prompt engineering, RAG, or agentic workflows)
- Demonstrated ability to evaluate user-facing experiences, identify what's not working, and advocate for quality
- Earn trust with non-engineering partners
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
- 3+ years of full software development life cycle, including coding standards, code reviews, source control management, build processes, testing, and operations experience
- Bachelor's degree in computer science or equivalent
- Experience building conversational AI, recommendation systems, or personalization engines
- Familiarity with AWS AI services (Amazon Bedrock, AgentCore, or Strands)
