POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES

Social Media Strategy & Management (Approx. 35%)

• Develop and manage MECCC's social media strategy to strengthen visibility and reputation as a leading NCIdesignated Comprehensive Cancer Center. Implement annual and quarterly social media strategy aligned with organizational objectives (patient acquisition, education, community outreach, provider recruitment, brand awareness).
• Manage day-to-day social media publishing across platforms, including content calendar, copywriting, creative briefs, and scheduling
• Maintain an editorial calendar and oversee content planning, scheduling, and execution.
• Coordinate with Subject Matter Experts to create and curate accurate, accessible, evidence-based content (posts, carousels, short video/Reels, stories, live sessions) tailored to patient populations and platform best practices. Ensure accessibility (alt text, captioning, plain-language) and inclusive messaging for diverse audiences.
• Maintain and update social media policy and platform governance; monitor sentiment, escalate negative issues per protocol, and ensure timely responses to comments.
• Track performance metrics and analytics, e.g., engagement reach, follower growth, referral traffic, conversions, cost per acquisition. Prepare reports and recommendations to inform strategy.
• Stay current on healthcare trends, social platform features, digital health regulations, and competitive activity.

Events & Conferences Planning & Coordination (Approx. 35%)

• Develop event strategy and annual calendar aligned with center priorities (awareness months, patient engagement, community outreach, fundraising, MECCC internal events).
• Plan and execute academic, scientific, and institutional events including symposia, lectures, community outreach programs, donor events, and signature Cancer Center initiatives.
• Oversee event marketing support in collaboration with Montefiore Einstein marketing: promotional timelines, program printing, social media coordination, and onsite materials.
• Manage event budgets: create estimates, track expenses, negotiate vendor contracts, secure cost-effective services, and reconcile post-event financials.
• Coordinate logistics, develop and maintain a standardized MECCC event kit (branded tablecloths, banners, consent forms, signage, etc.), ensuring items are current, stocked, and deployment-ready
• Supervise event production including run-of-show documents, cue sheets, speaker introductions, AV rehearsals, livestreaming, and on-site troubleshooting.
• Oversee registration and attendee services: online registration setup, on-site check-in, attendee communications, accommodation of special needs, and post-event follow-up/surveys.
• Partner with senior leaders, development/fundraising, communications, compliance, and community engagement teams to design program content, speaker management, honoraria, and accreditation/CE credit processes.
• Track, analyze, and report event metrics: attendance, revenue, donor engagement, satisfaction
• Serve as on-call event lead for high-profile or emergent events; support crisis response and rapid adjustments when required.
• Capture event photos/video or coordinate photographers/videographers as needed; supply assets & copy for social, MECCC, and ME newsletters to highlight event outcomes.
• Staff the MECCC booth at conferences-engage attendees, explain programs and services, distribute materials, capture photos/media collect leads/consent forms, and escalate clinical or complex inquiries to appropriate staff.

Communications & Content Development (Approx. 15%)

• Write, edit, and produce content for digital and print platforms, including websites, newsletters, social media channels, presentations, and institutional communications.
• Translate complex scientific, clinical, and academic information into clear, accessible messaging for diverse internal and external audiences.
• Partner with assistant director for communication and senior leaders to develop stories and messaging that highlight MECCC's research, clinical programs, faculty expertise, and community impact.
• Ensure content aligns with institutional priorities, academic standards, and regulatory considerations.

Brand Management (Approx. 15%)

• Serve as steward of the MECCC brand, ensuring consistent voice, tone, and visual identity across all communications.
• Advise faculty, administrators, and staff on branding standards and approved usage.
• Coordinate with institutional communications teams and creative partners as needed.

Scope & Complexity

• Operates with moderate to high autonomy within established institutional and academic guidelines.
• Manages multiple projects with competing deadlines.
• Interacts regularly with faculty leadership, researchers, clinicians, senior administrators, and external partners.
• Role directly supports the academic and research mission of an NCIdesignated Comprehensive Cancer Center.

QUALIFICATIONS

Minimum Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in communications, marketing, journalism, public relations, or a related field.
• 3-5 years of progressively responsible experience in communications, digital media, and/or event planning.
• Demonstrated excellence in writing, editing, and content strategy.
• Experience managing social media platforms and using analytics tools.
• Strong project management, organizational, and interpersonal skills.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience in academic medicine, healthcare systems, research institutions, or oncology settings.
• Familiarity with academic branding standards and institutional review processes.
• Experience supporting largescale academic or scientific events.
• Knowledge of accessibility standards, inclusive communications, and health literacy principles.

Work Environment

• Professional academic office environment within an academic medical center.
• Occasional evening or weekend hours may be required to support events and major initiatives.

Salary VerbiageIn compliance with NYC's Pay Transparency Act, the annual base salary range for this position is listed below. The Communications, Social Media, and Events Manager is a professional administrative role responsible for planning and executing integrated communications and engagement initiatives for the Montefiore Einstein Comprehensive Cancer Center (MECCC). As an NCIdesignated Comprehensive Cancer Center, MECCC requires sophisticated, accurate, and missionaligned communications that support research excellence, clinical care, education, and community engagement.

Reporting to the Assistant Director of Communications and Deputy Director for Administration as a member of the administrative team, this role exercises independent judgment, manages multiple complex projects concurrently, and serves as a subjectmatter resource for communications, branding, and event coordination within an academic medical and research environment.
