Full Stack Development Intern information

What kinds of projects and technologies does a full stack development intern typically work on during their internship?

Full Stack Development Interns often contribute to both front-end and back-end features of web applications, working with frameworks like React or Angular for the user interface and Node.js, Python, or Java for server-side logic. Interns may be assigned tasks such as building new components, fixing bugs, writing APIs, or assisting with database integration. It's common to collaborate closely with designers, senior developers, and QA testers in an agile environment, gaining exposure to the entire software development lifecycle. This hands-on experience helps interns understand how different technologies interact and prepares them for more advanced roles in the future.

What is a full stack development intern?

A Full Stack Development Intern is a student or recent graduate who assists with building both the front-end (client side) and back-end (server side) components of web applications. They typically work under the supervision of experienced developers to learn and contribute to projects using various programming languages and frameworks. Responsibilities may include writing code, debugging, testing, and collaborating with design and development teams. This internship provides practical experience in the entire web development process and helps prepare interns for a career as a full stack developer.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a full stack development intern, and why are they important?

To thrive as a Full Stack Development Intern, you need foundational knowledge of front-end and back-end programming languages such as JavaScript, HTML, CSS, and at least one server-side framework, alongside a relevant academic background in computer science or a related field. Familiarity with version control systems like Git, databases (SQL/NoSQL), and cloud platforms is often expected, and experience with tools like React, Node.js, or Docker can be advantageous. Strong problem-solving skills, adaptability, and effective communication help interns collaborate within teams and learn quickly in dynamic environments. These skills and qualifications are crucial for efficiently contributing to diverse development tasks and succeeding in fast-paced tech teams.

SENIOR FULL STACK DEVELOPMENT LEADER

Welltel

Freehold, NJ

$140K - $200K/yr

Full-time

Job description

We are looking for a Senior Full Stack Software Engineer who is equal parts visionary and executor. You will own Welltel's technology platform end-to-end — architecting, building, and evolving systems that directly impact patient outcomes and operational performance at scale.

This is a founding engineering leadership role. You will not inherit a team — you will build one. You'll source, hire, and lead the engineers who will bring this platform to life, while remaining deeply hands-on in the code yourself.

If you are the kind of person who sees a complex problem and immediately starts designing the solution — this was written for you.

What You'll Own

  • Full technical ownership of our platform architecture, development, and roadmap

  • Sourcing, hiring, and building an engineering team from the ground up

  • Translating business and clinical goals into elegant, scalable technical solutions

  • Leading code reviews, setting engineering standards, and driving best practices

  • Coordinating with leadership on product strategy and long-term technical vision

  • Integrating third-party systems, APIs, and healthcare platforms

  • Building for reliability, security, performance, and scale

What We're Looking For

  • 3 plus years of full-stack software development experience

  • Proven ability to lead and build engineering teams, not just contribute to them

  • Strong proficiency in React, TypeScript, Node.js, Python, and REST APIs

  • Experience with PostgreSQL, MySQL, or similar relational databases

  • Hands-on experience with AWS, Docker, GitHub Actions, and CI/CD pipelines

  • Familiarity with healthcare technology, HIPAA compliance, or regulated industries (preferred)

  • Experience with EHR/EMR integrations or third-party healthcare systems (preferred)

  • A self-starter who thrives with autonomy and takes full ownership of outcomes

  • Exceptional communicator — comfortable with both engineers and executives

Why Welltel

  • Competitive salary: $140,000–$200,000 based on experience

  • Paid time off

  • Real ownership — you will shape the future of this platform, not just maintain it

  • Significant room to grow as the company scales

  • Work alongside leadership that is deeply invested in building something great
