What You Will Do

Bring your talent and skills to Raytheon Software Engineering team! The selected candidate will intern with Raytheon during summer 2027 as part of the Raytheon Fellowship Program.

About the Raytheon Fellowship Program:

  • Seeking students in their sophomore or junior year or seniors if pursuing a master's.
  • Upon program acceptance, participants will be submitted for a national security clearance.
  • Participants may be eligible to receive a $10,000 signing bonus, and an additional $10,000 signing bonus upon converting to full-time employee status post-graduation (payable within 60 days of employment and subject to all applicable withholdings).
  • Participants will sign an offer agreement, committing to remain with Raytheon for a minimum of two years after becoming a full-time employee.

Raytheon's Air & Space Defense Systems (ASDS) strategic business unit (SBU) specializes in multi-domain integrated air and missile defense, advanced sensors, space-based systems, hypersonics, effectors and cyber solutions. Focused on program execution, business growth and the highest level of customer satisfaction, the ASDS team provides customers with unmatched capabilities of detection and sensing, command and control, and air-to-air, air-to-surface, and surface-to-air munitions to accomplish air, space and missile defense missions. Within ASDS, Space Intelligence, Surveillance & Reconnaissance is our Sub-SBU that delivers information superiority from space, multi-mission automation and orchestration, multiple intelligence (Multi-INT) and resilient operations, secure processing, and data management.

Raytheon is currently hiring for software engineering interns during the Summer of 2027. Interns typically work on satellite ground systems and related software projects. Some previous activities in these positions have involved implementing AI/ML processing tools, developing software algorithms, modeling complex satellite systems, simulating systems to understand mission performance, performing system trade studies, improving software efficiency, and developing production software as part of an Agile software development team.

  • Experience developing object-oriented software using Java.
  • Knowledge of data structures.

Qualifications We Prefer

  • Experience programming using C++ and Python.
  • Experience with Agile development.
  • Interest in satellite ground system software and related technologies such as mission management, planning and scheduling, command and telemetry, satellite operations, and flight dynamics models

The salary range for this role is 37,000 USD - 82,000 USD. The salary range provided is a good faith estimate representative of all experience levels. RTX considers several factors when extending an offer, including but not limited to, the role, function and associated responsibilities, a candidate's work experience, location, education/training, and key skills.

Specific benefits are dependent upon the specific business unit as well as whether or not the position is covered by a collective-bargaining agreement.

Payments under these annual programs are not guaranteed and are dependent upon a variety of factors including, but not limited to, individual performance, business unit performance, and/or the company's performance.
