Job description

Description

 We are seeking a skilled HVAC Estimator to support our New Systems and Systems Solutions teams by delivering accurate and competitive project estimates. This role focuses on both design-build and plan & spec HVAC projects and may involve collaboration with an ARC Sales Representative or direct coordination with General Contractors. 


Key Responsibilities:

  • Prepare detailed estimates for HVAC/R construction and retrofit projects by analyzing blueprints, specifications, RFPs, and on-site conditions.
  • Perform material takeoffs, labor calculations, and cost analysis; coordinate with vendors and subcontractors for accurate pricing.
  • Develop and write clear subcontractor scopes of work.
  • Conduct site visits and attend pre-bid walkthroughs as required, including roof access when necessary.
  • Create comprehensive project budgets, bid proposals, and cost breakdowns, supported by detailed documentation.
  • Collaborate with engineering, operations, and sales teams to align estimates with project goals and company strategy.
  • Maintain and update estimating tools and historical cost databases.
  • Monitor industry trends, pricing fluctuations, and code changes.
  • Lead internal bid strategy meetings and coordinate deliverables for awarded projects with the Systems Team.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Construction Management, or related field preferred.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience (field or internship) in HVAC or construction estimating.
  • Solid understanding of MEP systems and subcontractor scope alignment.
  • Strong analytical, organizational, and strategic planning skills.
  • Ability to estimate sheet metal.
  • Ability to do some design work, including duct sizing. AutoCAD experience is a plus.
  • Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and specifications.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office, Bluebeam, and Procure.
  • Strong time management skills and ability to adapt to shifting priorities.
  • Willingness to travel throughout New England and the Northeast as needed.
