JOB SUMMARY
Working under the guidance of experienced Production Leaders, the Management Associate participates in a structured 18-to-24-month development program that provides exposure to ready-mix plant management, workforce leadership, process improvement, production planning, inventory control, and financial management. The position allows associates to gain a comprehensive understanding of the ready-mix business while developing the leadership, technical, and business competencies required for future supervisory and management roles.
KEY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Learn and participate in all aspects of ready-mix concrete production and plant operations.
  • Assist in coordinating daily production activities to ensure product availability and customer service requirements are met.
  • Monitor plant performance and production processes to maximize operational efficiency.
  • Support batching operations and ensure products are produced according to approved mix designs and quality standards.
  • Observe and analyze production workflows to identify opportunities for productivity and performance improvements.
  • Learn operational processes associated with multiple ready-mix facilities.
  • Support implementation of operational best practices across assigned locations.
  • Participate in continuous improvement initiatives focused on safety, quality, production efficiency, and cost control.
  • Demonstrate a strong commitment to Martin Marietta's safety culture and core values.
  • Ensure operational activities are conducted in accordance with established safety expectations.
  • Learn ready-mix concrete manufacturing processes and quality assurance requirements.
  • Assist quality control personnel in monitoring concrete consistency, performance, and compliance specifications.
  • Develop an understanding of mix designs, aggregate characteristics, admixtures, and cementitious materials.
  • Review production and test information to ensure product quality standards are achieved.
  • Participate in investigations of quality concerns and implementation of corrective actions.
  • Support initiatives that improve product consistency and customer satisfaction.
  • Learn industry specifications, testing procedures, and quality assurance protocols.
  • Assist with maintaining quality documentation and records.
  • Gain exposure to workforce management, employee engagement, and performance management processes.
  • Observe and learn supervisory responsibilities related to staffing, scheduling, and employee development.
  • Support operational leaders in managing daily plant activities.
  • Develop communication and leadership skills through direct interaction with employees, customers, and business partners.

QUALIFICATIONS
Education
Bachelor's degree in Mining, Civil Engineering, or Construction Management
Valid Driver's License
Work Experience
No prior work experience is required; 6 months - 1 year of industry related internships or a combination of internships and work experience in Ready-Mix is preferred.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
Familiarity with Ready-Mix industry
OSHA compliance and regulations
Effective communicator (written & spoken)
Proficient Computer skills (MS Word & Excel)
Time management
ADDITIONAL DETAILS
Physical Requirements
Must be able to lift and carry up to 50 lbs. for plant maintenance and equipment servicing.
Required to bend, stoop, climb, and reach. You must be able to maintain three points of contact when climbing on/off machinery or on ladders.
Strong hand-eye-foot coordination is essential for operating hand/foot controls. You must have good depth perception with or without seeing aid for distances up to 150 feet.
Working Conditions
All duties require outside assignments and require periods of work in all weather conditions, cold, wet, dry, and dusty. Must be able to work in areas where noise levels are up to 85 dbs.
