Key Responsibilities
  • Conduct comprehensive mental health assessments tailored for senior clients, focusing on cognitive functioning, emotional status, and specific care needs.
  • Provide both individual and group counseling sessions addressing emotional challenges related to aging, such as coping with loss and adapting to life transitions.
  • Educate caregivers, family members, and staff on effective strategies to enhance the emotional well-being and quality of life for elderly individuals.
  • Facilitate grief and loss counseling sessions to support residents and their families who are dealing with end-of-life issues, fostering a supportive environment where feelings can be expressed and processed.
  • Utilize evidence-based practices and therapeutic modalities to guide clients through treatment plans while adhering to ethical standards and best practices in mental health care.
  • Document all client interactions thoroughly in our health management system, ensuring accurate records that facilitate comprehensive care planning and follow-ups.
Patient Population / Client Focus

The primary focus of this position is on elderly clients who may be experiencing difficulties associated with aging, including but not limited to depression, anxiety, grief, and adjustment disorders. We also place a significant emphasis on addiction counseling, ensuring that our clients receive holistic care that addresses all facets of their mental health.

Qualifications
  • A Master's Degree in Social Work, Mental Health Counseling, Counseling Psychology, Clinical Psychology, or a related field.
  • Demonstrable completion of a full-time clinical internship in a mental health setting.
  • Eligibility for licensure in the state of Florida as a Licensed Mental Health Counselor (LMHC).
  • A valid driver's license in good standing.
  • Exceptional communication skills with the ability to foster trust and rapport quickly with clients and their families.
  • Strong listening skills with a capacity for empathy and providing insightful guidance.
  • Detail-oriented with excellent organizational abilities to manage documentation and client records efficiently.
Preferred Experience
  • Prior experience working with elderly populations in either community or clinic settings.
  • Specialization or experience in addiction counseling and therapeutic interventions tailored for seniors.
  • Familiarity with telehealth systems and virtual counseling methodologies.
Compensation and Benefits
