Description

The School of Health Professions (SHP) at Stony Brook University invites applicants to apply for the position of Director of Clinical Education/Clinical Coordinator in the Department of Health Science-Emergency Medical Technician and Paramedic Programs.This is a non-tenure track, 12-month faculty appointment at the rank of Clinical Instructor/Clinical Assistant Professor. The programs are delivered at Stony Brook University Health Sciences Center and the Southampton campus.

The Director of Clinical Education/Clinical Coordinator will report to the Chair of the Department of Health Science.

This position will oversee and coordinate clinical education in the Emergency Medical Technician and Paramedic Programs:

  • Ensure documentation of the evaluation and progression of clinical performance
    • Oversight of monitoring student progression in the clinical, field experience, and capstone field internship experiences
  • Secure clinical and field rotation sites
  • Ensure orientation to the program’s requirements of the personnel who supervise or instructstudents at clinical, field, and capstone field internship sites
  • Participate in the accreditation and assessment processes
  • Coordinate the assignment of students to clinical and field internship sites
  • Travel to and visit clinical rotation sites

The candidate hired for this position will also have responsibilities in teaching in areas of expertise within the Emergency Medical Technician and Paramedic Programs and Health Science major curriculum, engaging in collaborative interdisciplinary scholarship, and engaging in service activities.

Qualifications

Required Qualifications:

  • Two (2) years of full-time clinical experience as a NYS certified paramedic
  • Experience as a paramedic at an Advanced Life Support (ALS) Agency

Preferred Qualifications:

  • NYS Certified Instructor Coordinator (CIC) at the ALS level
  • Experience as an instructor in a CAAHEP accredited paramedic program
  • Experience as a clinical coordinator in a CAAHEP accredited paramedic program
  • Experience in curriculum development, supervision, instruction, evaluation, and academic advising

Special Notes:Non-Tenure Track position. FLSA Exempt positions, not eligible for the overtime provisions of the FLSA.
