Job Summary

IAIC (Independence American Insurance Company) is IPH's carrier organization, responsible for actuarial pricing, indications, and insurance-driven insights into portfolio performance. TheData Science team within itensures IAIC and IPH remain at the forefront of actuarial and pricing sophistication by evaluating new data sources, developing advanced analytical techniques, and delivering predictive insights that drive better-informed business decisioning.

We are seekinga Senior Data Scientistwith hands-on experiencein P&C or Pet Insurance pricingto join our growing R&D team. This is a senior individual contributor role responsible forleadingcomplex data science initiatives, developingandmaintainsadvanced predictive models, andmaintainingpartnershipswith actuarial,underwriting, product, and data teams.

You will balance a portfoliomultipleconcurrentresearch initiativesin pricing, customer behavior, and other business analytics.This role requires someone who can independently run a project to ground, ask the right questions when roadblocks arise, and communicate complex modeling work to both technical and nontechnical audiences.

What You'll Do

Pricing & Modeling Leadership

  • Develop, enhance, and maintain predictive models (e.g., GLMs, machine learning, ensemble approaches) to support pricing, segmentation, and performance forecastingwhile balancing regulator considerations.

  • Apply advanced statistical techniques to identify key drivers of sales, retention, and profitability, and forecast expected outcomes.

  • Serve as a technical lead on larger, cross-functional initiatives.

EndtoEnd Project Ownership

  • Leadscoped projectsand drivethemindependently to completion, escalating questions or blockers appropriately

  • Manage a rotating portfolioof multiple active projects, including pricing model builds, research initiatives, and support for regulatory filings.

Data Exploration & Analytical Insight

  • Lead exploratory data analysis to evaluate relationships between data elements and insurance processes, including pricing, conversion, retention, and risk segmentation.

  • Perform advanced root cause analysis to investigate data inconsistenciesand system issues; collaborate with Data Engineering and Business Units to resolve findings.

  • Translate complex technical findings into clear, actionable insights forleadership with varying technical backgrounds.

Communication & Influence

  • Design, implement, and maintain scalable data pipelines to collect, process, and integrate structured and unstructured data from internal systems and external data sources.

  • Create and maintain dashboards and reporting solutions (e.g., Power BI) to monitor key metrics such as rate level, risk segmentation, retention, and portfolio performance.

  • Mentor and develop analytics talent within the team and across the organization.

  • Stay current on industry trends, emerging technologies, and advancements in data science, analytics, and actuarial science.

RequiredQualifications

  • Graduate degree in Statistics, Mathematics, Actuarial Science, Data Science, or related quantitative field and 2+ years of experience in a data science or analytical roleor5+ years of progressive experience in a data science or analytical role.

  • At least 1 year of experience in P&C or Pet Insurance Pricing (pricingmodeling, GLMs, segmentation, and/or related actuarial/data science work).

  • Strong proficiency in Python, SQL, R, or other statistical programming languages for data manipulation, modeling, and analysis.

  • Demonstratedabilityto communicate complex technical concepts to both technical and non-technical audiences.

  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and projects in a fast-paced environment, both independently and collaboratively.

  • Able to engage and influence others with empathy and fostering trust.

  • Strong problem-solving, critical thinking, and attention to detail.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with SQL Server,Snowflake, and/orDatabricks.

  • Familiarity withdata warehousing concepts.

  • Hands-on experience with WTW Radar suite (Radar Base, Emblem)and/orEarnix.

  • Experience with data visualization tools such as Power BI
