Job description

The Fundamental Physics Directorate at SLAC National Accelerator Laboratory offers internship opportunities for students currently enrolled in an educational program or recently graduated. We're looking for motivated self-starters who are interested in getting exposed to research and technologies used in SLAC's particle physics experiments.
The primary goal of the program is to provide interns with a stimulating, real-world research experience. Technical projects are matched to the interests and skills of each intern, but are ultimately determined by the programmatic needs of the facility.
Some fields of work:
  • Testing and development of detector hardware
  • Software development for numerical simulations and analysis of experimental data
  • Design and optimization of experiments in particle physics
Note: This is an hourly, non-benefits eligible temporary-nonexempt, internship position (work at 50% full-time equivalent or more, not to exceed 980 hours in six consecutive months.) Eligible applicants must be at least 18 years of age and currently enrolled in an educational program or recently graduated and have US work authorization. All accepted candidates must have or be able to timely acquire US work authorization. A minimum commitment requested is 8 weeks.
