Job description

Job Title: 3D Scanning Technician / Metrology Technician / Quality Engineering Technician

Monday - Friday (55k +/- with opportunity for OT)

Responsibilities

  • Complete 3D scans as requested or required.
  • Prepare parts for scanning, including targeting and spray painting.
  • Communicate and collaborate with analysts to ensure timely completion of scans.
  • Conduct demonstrations and maintain a knowledgeable presence in the lab.
  • Support the development of new fixturing and measurement techniques.
  • Define each scanning project, including scans needed and reports required.
  • Obtain required CAD data for analysis completion.
  • Coordinate all projects in the scan lab, including scheduling and report outs.
  • Keep the lab clean and organized inside and outside.
  • Execute the calibration of lab scanners.

Essential Skills

  • Proficiency in 3D scanning and AutoCAD.
  • Experience with 3D modeling and geometric dimensioning and tolerancing (GD&T).
  • Knowledge of SolidWorks, PolyWorks, CREO, and CMM programming.
  • Data analysis and precision measurement skills.
  • Experience with laser scanning and use of equipment such as Faro Arm, Zeiss, ATOS, Hexigon, Vectron, and Argus.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • College degree desired, preferably in a technical field.
  • Experience in CAD systems and manipulation of 3D CAD data.
  • Ability to handle multiple projects and maximize output.
  • Proficient with computers and able to learn and operate multiple software programs.
  • Strong communication skills for conducting tours and engaging with diverse groups.
  • Excellent teamwork skills and a self-starting attitude.
  • Ability to diagnose and communicate machine faults to service technicians and maintenance personnel.
  • 3D scanning and metrology experience, including gage design and Six Sigma data analysis.
  • Experience with CREO and Windchill programs is beneficial.

Work Environment

Work primarily in the quality lab department, collaborating with manufacturing groups such as Stamping, Plastics, and Assembly. Coordinate with Quality, Advanced Manufacturing, Production, and Engineering departments to scan defective parts, establish quality standards, and improve quality testing procedures. The role is based in an office and lab setting, working Monday through Friday during day shifts. You will be one of the primary users of scanning technology, working with engineers and analysts to create necessary scans for part and assembly dimensional analysis.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Louisville, KY.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $24.00 - $26.00/hr.

Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
