Internship Overview

We believe the best way to start your career is by doing work you actually care about. In our internship program, you take the driver's seat. We tailor your day-to-day projects around your specific career interests and goals, not just a checklist of corporate chores.

As a leading electrical contractor, we'll give you an insider's look into the industry through real-world experience on active projects. You'll get to see how different teams collaborate to bring complex projects to life, build practical and professional skills, and learn directly from industry pros in the field and office.

Role Overview

As a BIM intern, you'll be a true extension of our BIM/VDC team, getting hands-on experience in 3D modeling, clash detection, digital coordination, and technical documentation across active construction projects.

Because our program is tailored to your goals, you'll have the opportunity to explore the areas that interest you most. You might help build detailed Revit models, run clash detection analysis, prepare project renderings, or collaborate with field teams to ensure virtual designs seamlessly translate to the job site. No matter where your interests lead, you'll contribute to meaningful projects that make a lasting impact on our culture and company.

What You'll Do

Key Responsibilities

BIM Modeling & Coordination

  • Assist in developing and updating detailed 3D BIM models using Autodesk Revit, Navisworks, and AutoCAD.
  • Collaborate with design and engineering teams to maintain model accuracy, align with project requirements.
  • Run clash detection to support multi-disciplinary coordination efforts.

Project Support & Technical Documentation

  • Prepare visual models, 3D renderings, and technical drawings for team presentations and project deliverables.
  • Active participation in design review meetings, helping spot potential model improvements and assisting in establishing internal BIM standards and workflows.

Explore What Interests You Most

  • Tailor your project workload around your specific career goals.
  • You'll get to see different project phases, work directly with VDC experts, explore virtual design integrations, and spent time on active construction sites to see how models get built in real life.

Additional duties as assigned.

What You'll Bring

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

  • Curious and ready to jump in, just bring enthusiasm, ask great questions, and be excited to take ownership or real 3D modeling projects.
  • Problem-solving mindset with a passion for digital design, construction processes, 3D modeling, and finding smart spatial solutions.
  • Trustworthy and ethical, with strong professional integrity and a collaborate spirit when working across team disciplines.

Demonstrated Accomplishments

  • Strong verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to explain technical modeling details clearly across academic or project settings.
  • Excellent analytical thinking and special problem-solving capabilities to resolve model clashes and layout challenges.
  • Familiarity with BIM-related software such as Autodesk Revit, AutoCAD, Navisworks, or similar 3D modeling tools.

Education & Experience

  • Currently enrolled in a degree or certificate program in Architecture, Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field.
What You'll Get

Working Conditions:

The majority of the time you will work in a typical office environment.  Occasionally, you may travel to a construction job site. When on construction job sites you will encounter typical construction conditions including extreme temperatures, noise, dust, mud debris, welding, leading edge, trenching, and shoring, sometimes in a confined space.  You may be required to visit multiple locations during any one day.

Salary Range: $20.00 - $25.00/hour

*Final salary and rates are based on education, experience, skills relevant to the role, and internal equity. *
