Description:

Beef Northwest offers summer internships each year at all feed yard locations. The purpose of the Internship is to teach students the key elements to the successful operation of a feed yard. Ultimately, this will help Beef Northwest determine if you are a strong candidate for its Manager in Training Program post-graduation.

Job Duties:

  • Two weeks working in the following departments: Cattle, Hospital, Feed Mill, Feeding, Maintenance and Management
  • You will have specific learning objectives you will need to learn the answers to in each department.
  • You will keep a journal every day of your activities and things you learned.
  • You will be preparing a SWOT analysis for each department for your final Internship presentation.
  • You will be working on one to three projects. Those projects will include scope, benefit, drawbacks, financial analysis and your final recommendation.
  • You will visit multiple BNW sites and operations.
  • You will visit industry partners.
  • You will be exposed to all aspects of the business in one way or another.
  • At the end of your Internship you will deliver a presentation of your summer experience and projects to the Executive Leadership team, Managers and staff at multiple locations. 
Requirements:
  • Strong desire to work in the Cattle and/or Feed Lot Industry post-graduation.
  • Strong work ethic and a positive can-do attitude.
  • Ability to use Excel, PowerPoint, Word and Gmail.
  • Access to a horse and ability to ride for at least two weeks. (In certain cases, we may be able to provide you a horse).
  • Good sense of humor
  • 2.5 GPA or higher
