Job Details:

Job Title: Sterile Processing Tech (SPT) Team Lead Surgical Services

Location: Charleston, SC

Setting: Hospital

Pay Range: 1439.36 - 1511.33

Schedule: 07:00 - 15:30

Contract Length: 13 weeks.

Candidate Type: Travel

Requirements: CBSPD and/or CRCST - HSPA; Minimum of three (3) years of sterile processing experience; Prior leadership experience; Familiarity with electronic instrument tracking systems.

Responsibilities:

  • Directly supervise Lead Technician, Tech I, II, III, and Non-Certified Technicians across all SPD work areas.
  • Provide daily assignments of staff based on workload, case volume, and departmental priorities.
  • Oversee instrument tracking systems, documentation accuracy, and inventory control.
  • Collaborate with Educator/Manager on orientation and training plans.
  • Coordinate daily SPD operations to meet surgical case demands.
  • Monitor tray turnaround times, instrument availability, and case cart readiness.
  • Troubleshoot equipment, instrument, and workflow issues in real time.
  • Ensure proper segregation of clean/dirty workflows and adherence to infection prevention practices.
  • Ensure compliance with AAMI ST79, AORN guidelines, CDC recommendations, and regulatory standards.
  • Audit tray assembly accuracy, count sheets, peel packs, and labeling requirements.
  • Address service concerns and implement service recovery when needed.
  • Participate in interdisciplinary meetings.
  • Monitor adherence to infection control, safety, and universal precautions.
  • Organize, store, and distribute instruments, trays, and equipment.
  • Prepare instrument trays and equipment for sterilization.
  • Decontaminate and sterilize instruments, medical supplies, and equipment.
